Cinderford U14s Girls vs Gloucester Old Crypts U14s

Cinderford U14s Girls put in a determined and spirited performance at home against Gloucester Old Crypts RFC, despite a tough final scoreline of 44–7.

The girls showed fantastic resilience from the start, playing with just 13 players and having to adapt by dropping the number 8 and full-back positions. With several players missing and others stepping into unfamiliar roles, it was always going to be a challenge—but the team rose to it brilliantly.

A big thank you goes to the three girls from Lydney RFC who stepped in to support the squad—your help made a huge difference and showed great team spirit across clubs.

Defensively, Cinderford were outstanding at times, putting in some strong tackles and working hard to hold their line against a well-drilled Gloucester side. Their effort and determination never dropped, and they should be proud of the way they stuck together throughout.

A highlight of the match came with a brilliant first try from Kyriee, showing great awareness and determination to break through the defence. Boe added the conversion, rounding off a fantastic team moment and giving the girls something well deserved to celebrate.

Player of the Match was awarded to Maci for an excellent all-round performance, showing commitment, effort, and leadership on the pitch.

Although the result didn’t go our way, the attitude, teamwork, and resilience shown by every single player was something to be proud of. With a few players missing and others out of position, this was always going to be a tough test—but the girls never gave up and kept pushing right to the final whistle.

Keep your heads up, girls—performances like this build strength, character, and confidence. The results will come, and you’re improving every time you step onto the pitch. 💪🏉

A special thank you to Kelli for her constant support and for arranging the matches—it doesn’t go unnoticed. Also, a big thank you to Paul, Simon, and James for giving up their time to help coach and support the girls week in, week out. Your commitment makes a huge difference to the team

Match Report: Cinderford U14s 43 – 17 Royal Wootton Bassett U14s
Cinderford U14s produced a fantastic all-round team performance to overcome Royal Wootton Bassett U14s 43–17 in an entertaining and hard-fought contest.
Playing uphill in the first half, it was the visitors who struck first, with Royal Wootton Bassett crossing early for a try and adding the conversion. That opening score sparked Cinderford into life, and they responded with real intent. What followed was a fast-paced half full of action, big tackles, and quick tries from both sides. The physicality of the game began to show, with a few injuries creeping in after some huge defensive efforts, but the intensity never dropped in a half that seemed like it would never end.
After the break, Cinderford came out firing. Starting the second half strongly, they quickly added to their tally with a series of well-worked tries and conversions, taking control of the game. One of the standout moments came from Mila, making her debut in the red, black and amber shirt, who marked the occasion in style by running in a superb try from the halfway line.
To their credit, Royal Wootton Bassett continued to battle and found their way over the line with some well-earned tries of their own. However, Cinderford maintained their momentum, adding further scores to secure a deserved victory.
At the final whistle, both teams showed great sportsmanship, sharing three cheers and “one for luck” in a display of mutual respect.
A big thank you goes to Harry for refereeing, the coaches for their continued dedication, and the mums and dads who give up their time to support the players at training and on matchdays. Appreciation also goes to the sponsors who make it all possible, and a special mention to Kelli for organising everything behind the scenes.
This was truly an overall team performance from Cinderford.
Player Recognition:
Cinderford’s Ladies of the Match was Mila for her outstanding tackling and memorable debut try. Royal Wootton Bassett nominated Maci for her excellent all-round play in both attack and defence.

What a shame someone felt the need to slash our banner for under 14s/16s CINDERFORD rugby.
This is located on the entrance of Cinderford.
What people don’t realise is with girls rugby we all much in. We help RC out with players all the time.
And most of Drybrook and Cinderford girls are best mates.
Their isn’t the hatred between clubs with the girls.
So whoever the nasty narrow minded individual was that felt the need to slash our banner , Thanks!! We don’t need you putting a downer on our Girls rugby seen.
You are one sad individual.
Shame on you.
It really upset the girls today on there way to the match.
