50 Caps for the Lions 🦁
Today we celebrate earning his 50th cap for the Lions 🏉
Charlie “Chaz” Hay joined the Lions in 2021 and has been a core part of the Lions ever since, contributing hugely both on and off the field.
Originally arriving as a back, Charlie has transitioned into the forwards over the past few seasons, underlining both his versatility and commitment to the team. In just his second year at the club, he was appointed captain of the Lions Bs — an outstanding achievement for someone so young, and a testament to his leadership and ability to lead from the front.
His ability to cover multiple positions across the field means that whenever he’s available, he’s always in the matchday squad — a reflection of just how valuable he is to the side.
It’s a real pleasure to see Charlie reach this milestone.
Congratulations on your 50th cap, Chaz — here’s to many more in a Lions shirt 🦁

From teammate, David Greene:
‘I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Chaz for a few years now. He’s a top bloke and a great teammate — always someone you want alongside you on the pitch…however, there was one moment where I was very clearly running a dummy line - and he still gave me the ball, which ended up with me being dump tackled in front of our whole touchline! But that aside, he’s a quality player.
It’s been brilliant to see how much he’s developed since joining — especially given how young he was when he arrived. Being able to play across so many positions and perform consistently is no easy feat, and he does it effortlessly.
50 caps is a fantastic achievement — well done mate, and here’s to many more!”
