We had a wonderful time at the launch of Chippenham Repair cafe yesterday with Zero Chippenham and Share and Repair Lots of bikes of all sizes serviced and repaired in the sunny courtyard at The Cause. We'll be back next month Saturday 3rd October and will put up an Eventbrite booking link when we confirm repairer availability. Thank you to everyone that booked on Eventbrite letting us know you'll be bringing cycles for checks and repairs to our first ever Chippenham Repair Cafe tomorrow! We're all super excited, and a little nervous!

We have two volunteer repairers tomorrow - Peter & Adrian. Some of you may have seen Peter before carrying out repairs at Eco-Future Fest. Adrian volunteers for cycle repairs at the Trowbridge Repair Cafe, though lives in Chippenham.

We're open from 10am to 1pm Sat 5th Sept at The Cause on the Causeway, Chippenham. The Cause has a main entrance via a red front door. To the right of the red door a little further up the Causeway, past the church frontage of the Cause, is another entrance way that will be open for the morning.

You can use this second entrance to bring your bikes in. However it is also a fire exit so we need to keep it clear.

We will be set up for Cycle Repairs in the small courtyard at the end of this corridor. You can also come in the main door if you wish, though you'll need to lift your bike up a couple of steps to get to the courtyard.

There is also space to leave bikes to the right of the red entrance door inside the church low walls where our Repair Cafe banner is tied. On the inside of the low walls are metal rings set in the wall that you can lock bikes to.

As it's our first Repair Cafe and all our volunteers are working together for the first time, please bear with us as we find our best way to get everyone seen in as efficient a manner as possible. There will also be tea and cake.

For this launch cafe and the October cafe consumables for the repairs such as inner tubes, brake pads, and our Chippenham Cycle maps are free and funded by Cycling UK's Bike Revival.

The Repair Cafe is a joint venture between Zero Chippenham and Share and Repair, with Cycle Chippenham running the Cycle repairs as part of the .

Share and Repair operate on a donations basis, so there will be a suggested donation for teas, and delicious cakes etc.

All volunteers are giving their time and expertise for free.
There will also be volunteers for sewing repairs, general repairs, and electrical repairs, and tea, coffee and cakes. So even if you don't have a bicycle, pop in and say hello, it's a social occasion too.

We look forward to meeting you all!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our first Circular Town ride today. It was a beautiful day to explore Chippenham. We had our first ride puncture that unfortunately couldn't be fixed by squirty foam repair. Thank you to the resourceful Ross Henning for coming to the rescue with his van.
If you missed this one we'll be repeating the ride on Sunday 20th September.

Hello Everyone,

We're looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow, Sunday 23rd August, for our Circular Town Ride. The weather is looking perfect for our first Circular Town ride.

We'll meet outside Bewley House just before 10am. Bewley House is the large building between the Railway Arches and the Reel Cinema. We'll meet on the grass in front of Bewley House and we'll have BigBikeRevival bunting up. We're fully booked for the ride so if you have booked and can't attend it would be great if you can let us know or cancel your ticket via Eventbrite. As there isn't an obvious cafe at our half way point we'll be bringing a selection of free refreshments with us, though you are welcome to bring your own food or snacks too.

The ride will take about 2 hours with a break half way. We have a short cut planned in for the last quarter if people become tired. Though this ride isn't about speed or distance. It's about using a cycle, bicycle, cargo bike, or tricycle to get around town to places you might want to go every day. We hope to show you some routes you may not know. I certainly didn't know some of them myself! We'll also point out routes to supermarkets, schools, and other points of interest. Some we'll cycle past and some we'll highlight ongoing routes to.

We'll have more of our printed updated Chippenham Cycle maps showing the current recommended safer routes. These are also available on the Connecting Wiltshire website.

We have risked assessed the route and arranged for some vegetation to be cut back in places. However as this route does use some quieter roads we'll be supplying hi viz vests and have Cycle Chippenham volunteers front, middle, back, and in between; and to help at a couple of road crossing points. You're welcome to bring your own hi viz vest if you have one. We recommend wearing a cycle helmet. We require a responsible adult to accompany under 18s.

Please bring a water bottle and wear sunscreen if needed.

We look forward to meeting you all!

Families are welcome to join us this Sunday 23rd 10am on our first Chippenham Circular town ride. We'll be exploring safer routes to cycle around Chippenham. Starting at Bewley House near the Reel cinema we'll pass Ivy Lane School, Aldi & TK Max, highlight routes to Sainsburys and Morrisons, highlight routes to Queens Crescent school, St Peters, Hardenhuish and Sheldon. We'll provide FREE refreshments half way and a FREE updated Chippenham Cycle map. The ride is approximately 2 hours and we've planned in an optional shortcut, partly as some safety improvements may start on Hardenhuish lane, and partly to ensure no one is too tired. Under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. This route uses a combination of quieter back streets and shared cycle routes highlighting some of the improvements in progress. Please reserve a spot on Eventbrite...

The Cycle Chippenham website is currently being transferred from Wix to Wordpress due to an unexpectedly large price increase by Wix. It will take a few days for the security certificate to transfer, so at present you will get an 'unsafe' warning if you visit our site. Though it is safe to advance to. You may also notice that the website is a little 'design light' at the moment. Please bear with us. We will be taking new photos in the next couple of months. As a volunteer run group our goal is to spend all our precious funds on cycle infrastructure and to encourage cycling in Chippenham.
