Thank you to everyone that booked on Eventbrite letting us know you'll be bringing cycles for checks and repairs to our first ever Chippenham Repair Cafe tomorrow! We're all super excited, and a little nervous!
We have two volunteer repairers tomorrow - Peter & Adrian. Some of you may have seen Peter before carrying out repairs at Eco-Future Fest. Adrian volunteers for cycle repairs at the Trowbridge Repair Cafe, though lives in Chippenham.
We're open from 10am to 1pm Sat 5th Sept at The Cause on the Causeway, Chippenham. The Cause has a main entrance via a red front door. To the right of the red door a little further up the Causeway, past the church frontage of the Cause, is another entrance way that will be open for the morning.
You can use this second entrance to bring your bikes in. However it is also a fire exit so we need to keep it clear.
We will be set up for Cycle Repairs in the small courtyard at the end of this corridor. You can also come in the main door if you wish, though you'll need to lift your bike up a couple of steps to get to the courtyard.
There is also space to leave bikes to the right of the red entrance door inside the church low walls where our Repair Cafe banner is tied. On the inside of the low walls are metal rings set in the wall that you can lock bikes to.
As it's our first Repair Cafe and all our volunteers are working together for the first time, please bear with us as we find our best way to get everyone seen in as efficient a manner as possible. There will also be tea and cake.
For this launch cafe and the October cafe consumables for the repairs such as inner tubes, brake pads, and our Chippenham Cycle maps are free and funded by Cycling UK's Bike Revival.
The Repair Cafe is a joint venture between Zero Chippenham and Share and Repair, with Cycle Chippenham running the Cycle repairs as part of the .
Share and Repair operate on a donations basis, so there will be a suggested donation for teas, and delicious cakes etc.
All volunteers are giving their time and expertise for free.
There will also be volunteers for sewing repairs, general repairs, and electrical repairs, and tea, coffee and cakes. So even if you don't have a bicycle, pop in and say hello, it's a social occasion too.
We look forward to meeting you all!
