My client received the shoes above for her birthday today (a great investment), but what to look for in a gym shoe❓💪🏻
For resistance training we want something to support the foot, and create as much stability as possible so we can apply force into the ground 🏋🏻
Those old running shoes just won't cut it for optimal performance, due to a lack of stability and the soft nature of them when lifting heavy.
To perform at our best we want something hard, and flat.
We recommend:
1️⃣ a dedicated pair of weightlifting shoes. Adidas and a few other brands make decent pairs, as per my clients shoes in the picture above.
2️⃣Nike metcons and similar are not quite as stable as the dedicating lifting shoe, but more functional and still allow you to squat etc heavy.
3️⃣Converse. These old shoe classics are stable, but might not provide as much support as the above two depending on the exercise.
