Game 21 and our final game of our RFYL U9 Division 2 campaign 🏆

Another late post match report due to a busy weekend 🔴⚪️⚽️🌑⚪️

Saturday the lads played a top team who has been one of the strongest teams in this division but a team who they did manage to win during our first meeting.

The game was end to end and physical throughout, a style of play which suits the Blues, the lads showed great character and resilience coming back from being 2 gold down to bring it level, but as the game wen into the final stages the opposition managed to grab the 3rd goal giving them a 3-2 lead.

Never easy to lose a game, especially those that you have been competitive in, but fine margins is all it takes to win or lose a game of football and it’s those fine margins we will focus more on ready for the Spring Cup 💪

This weeks POTM chosen by the opposition coach was our Noah & Browny ⚽️👏

Noah showed the importance of wingers both in and out of possession, with his out of possession recovery runs singling him out from his teammates today 💪

Browny showed his ability to deliver accurate dead balls into the box allowing his teammates to create chances within the opposition box, also scoring himself from two of them dead ball passes into the box 👏

Game 20 of our RFYL U9 Division 2 campaign 🏆

Very late with this match report, but it has been a very busy weekend for everyone, shoutout to the grassroots m**s who support and or coach their boys and their teams each week and every game 💐

Saturday the Blues played a team who we only just played a few weeks back so we knew what they were about and vice versa.

The Blues started excellent going 3-1 up, then complacency set in after some changes were made and we allowed them to get back into the game and bring it to a draw during the second half.

But the lads kept testing the opposition winning fouls a creating decent chances but it was looking like the game would finish a draw but with a few minutes the go the Blues broke the deadlock and bagged another goal giving them a win 👏

Well deserved all round as this wasn’t an easy game to play or win 💪

Had a strong performance in defence overall and got the Blues playing out from the back confidently, he also delivered some good free kicks into the final third creating opportunities for his teammates to get onto the ball and dangerous areas 💪👍

Game 19 of our RFYL U9 Division 2 campaign 🏆

On Saturday the Blues played a team we are familiar with and have played many times over the last 2 years, so we knew we had a competitive game on our hands.

The game was end to end with both teams working hard defensively and on trying to create chances, the Blues conceded first but this didn’t effect the lads efforts with them continuing to work hard.

The lads pulled it back to level terms in the second half with a well worked and placed goal from the left side, a little later though the Blues conceded from a mistake in our defensive third allowing the opposition to win the ball and be within shooting range straight away.

Last 5-7 minutes the Blues really tried to pull this back level by creating the lions share of chances in the game, but they just couldn’t convert them, something we need to work on and address urgently.

Overall the way the boys played that game they deserved something from it, but this is football.

Tried his absolute best during the practices and listened to coaching points given.

Post training he showed he retained the information given around the objective of the session and all coaching points given to the team by trying to answer every question, and those he was asked to answer he got correct 👍

Game 18 of our RFYL U9 Division 2 campaign 🏆

On Saturday the Blues faced a team we had not come up against yet this season but we know they have been doing very well against other teams with our division.

First half the Blues put up a solid performance, one of which they are very capable of doing 💪

Second half we dropped our standard slightly which allowed the opposition opportunities to create some chances, which they took, along with a few unfortunate events during the game this was enough for the opposition to come away with the win.

Overall the way the boys played that game they deserved something from it, but this is football.

Tonights TOTW goes to Blues overall 👏

The Blues started the session in the club canteen area for a team chat about what it means to play football and other team sports and what our expectations are moving forward.

After this the coaches were looking for a positive response and to be fair to the boys they stepped up and showed exactly what we know they are capable of, which was very pleasing to see 💪

Well done Blues👏 you showed good character.
