A fantastic day of golf for two very important charities!
On Saturday, 15th August, 180 players competed in our annual Charity Golf Day, raising funds for our two Captains’ charities: Great Ormond Street Hospital and Alzheimer’s Society.

It was a glorious sunny day on the course and terrace, creating the perfect setting for a fantastic day of golf, fundraising and fun where c.£20,200 was pledged from the auction, with a fantastic c.£26,500 raised in total on the day!

Congratulations to our winners Geoff and Pam Ashcombe, Juliet Bagnall and Sue M Allen (not pictured), who received a four-ball voucher to play at Banstead Golf Club.

A huge thank you to our house team behind the scenes for making the day such a success, and congratulations to all 180 players who took part.

Well done to Sally Aitken-Davies & Ellen Fermie who came in first place at the Australian Spoons Regional Competition at Grim’s D**e Golf Club. They now progress to the National Final at Woodhall Spa on Monday, August 10. Good luck ladies!

Our 12th annual Mixed Open was another fantastic day at Surbiton Golf Club, with 72 players representing 31 golf clubs coming together for a great day of competitive golf and good company. Entries travelled from as far afield as South Shields, Kent and Dorset, making it a truly well-supported event.

With glorious sunshine and beautiful course conditions, it was the perfect afternoon to enjoy a round of golf at Surbiton.

Congratulations to our winners, Paul and Suzanne Earland from RAC Golf Club, who took the title with an impressive 43 points.

The runners-up were Bernice Gunn and John Thompson from Weybrook Park and Corhampton Golf Clubs, with 41 points. In third place were Anna Maria Raffa and Mike Williams from Hoebridge and Sutton Green Golf Clubs, who scored 40 points on countback. Fourth place went to Claire London and Ray Dominey from Banstead Golf Club, also with 40 points.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped make our 12th Mixed Open such an enjoyable and successful event. We look forward to welcoming everyone back next year!

Congrats to Grace who competed in the English School Golf Association National Championships on Monday. Having come through County and Regional qualifying, Grace competed against 40 boys and 20 girls across 36 holes at in Derbyshire. Well done for coming 3rd in the girls nett, a great effort considering a very strong field! 👊 👍

The Surbiton Ladies hosted their annual charity fashion show last week called Fashion, Fajitas and Margaritas with clothes from Swing Out Sisters and Pure being modelled. The event raised valuable funds for this year’s Captains chosen charities The Alzheimer’s Society and Great Ormond Street Hospital and a fun time was had by all!

At Surbiton Golf Club, we might have taken "attention to detail" to a whole new level. When the team gets this obsessed with the turf, we don’t just get great greens—we end up with manicured bunkers that look more like a Zen garden than a hazard.
Precision is in our DNA, but sometimes the line between "perfect playability" and "landscape art" gets a little blurry!
A massive shoutout to the crew for keeping the standards high (and the edges even higher).

We were delighted to welcome our new Captains, Martin Ainsworth, Debbie Shaw and Kallum Jennings at our annual Captains drive in. A big thank you to Ciaran Carvalho, Georgina Headley and Alex Bocquet for their leadership in 2025 as well as their incredible fundraising efforts which saw an incredible £50,000 donated to LandAid and Surbiton YMCA. Our new Captains are excited to take the helm this year and are fundraising for Alzheimer’s Society and Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Congratulations to the winners of the winter 4s, Raye Cullen and Dan Gaunt, pictured with new Club Captain, Martin Ainsworth. The knockout competition is played over the winter months and the final is played over 36 holes with Raye and Dan winning 5 and 3. Congratulations also go to the runners up, Tony Bain and Mark Siddle. Ross Hill and Roger Vinnecombe are the worthy winners of the Winter Plate with Harry Proctor and Bryn Littleproud as the runners up. Well done to all!
