Firstly a quick recap of our weekend at Cowgate (23rd-25th May), the weather was sunny and very hot! Our thanks to Shooting Stars Flyball Team for ensuring there was plenty of shade, fresh cold water available for dogs around the ring, and getting racing finished early each day before the hottest points.

Unfortunately neither team got into placings in their division, but they coped well with the heat and gave it their all, Niffler got to run a few legs and did awesome not even looking at the other side! Chi on the other hand doesn't appreciate racing in the warmer weather and ran 5.9s by the end of his racing and he decided it was too hot for him πŸ˜…

We had no training yesterday as we had a few members unavailable - Kerena was away in Norfolk volunteering as part of the crew at the Flyball Open World Cup 2026! FOWC 2026

FPR would like to congratulate all of the teams that participated, the teams that won their double eliminations and a huge well done to the UK representative teams winning the country ranking! There was some epic racing and great sportsmanship between teams in the rings, no matter which countries you were from ❀️

Next weekend FPR have 2 open teams competing at DBARC in Division 1, FourPaws Racing, and in Division 5 FourPaws Running 🐾

Now that they are 8 weeks old, we introduce you to the 3 of Bowtruckle & Darius' puppies that are staying within our team!

First up: Rowan, she's the smallest of the litter, but is cheeky, full of character and loves to run and cause chaos already! She is staying with Nicky, her mummy Bowtruckle and nanny Dixie πŸ’œ

Next we have 'the twins', brother and sister Zephyr and Siren. Both are full of beans and bomb around playing together, but do love to snuggle up at bed time. They have found their home with Teresa and David πŸ’›β€οΈ

We cant wait to be a part of their journey and see what they achieve ✨️❀️

9th/10th May - Hedsor recap!

We had a relaxed day on Saturday with no racing so Darius had a visit from Bowtruckle and their babies for some socialisation /new surroundings in their own little pen ❀️

Sunday saw both teams racing:

FourPaws Running - did awesome in division 7 winning 5 out of 5 races and getting a well earned 1st place!
Box turns slightly improved from last week but still some work to do at training. Cyrus, Lemmy, Kenzi and Augustus are starting to gel nicely running together and Niffler still making progress during warm ups and managing to stay concentrated despite dogs running in the other lane!

FourPaws Racing - In division 2, unfortunately didnt manage to get into placings, but the dogs raced well. Rupert stayed in his lane and didnt take the shortcut down the side! Austyn, Darius and Gibson were consistent, Darius regaining confidence since his collision back in Feb. Chimaera remembered his box turn this week, however seemed to struggle with the jumps πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ so we know what we need to work on at training! 🀣

Smoothly run, relaxed and fun competition as always our thanks to Lightning Strikes Flyball & Agility Club for hosting. Sad to think it's the last one at Hedsor after 13 years! A great venue and has always been one of the team's favourites, we will miss having a comp 20mins down the road! 🀣 but we hope that you are able to find another venue to continue hosting in future ❀️

Back to training again this Sunday (weather permitting 🀞) lots we can work on before our next competition!

Saturday 2nd May saw us at our first competition of the season and first comp on the new box! Anstey Park, hosted by Kennets, it was lovely weather, before the downpour of rain in the afternoon 🀣

Running -
Line up of Cyrus, Lemmy, Kenzi, Augustus and Niffler, won 2/4 of their races and came 3rd in their division.
Bits to work on with their box turns as a few of the dogs seemed to have forgotten what we've spent weeks focusing on at training πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ€£
Niffler did amazing the few runs he did, and ran a clean leg with a dog racing in the other lane and his box turn was nicely controlled!

Racing -
Line up of Gibson, Chimaera, Austyn, Darius and Rupert, came 6th in their division, a couple of the dogs unfortunately had blips throughout the day
Chimaera's few brain cells malfunctioned in the sun and he forgot how to turn on the box and come over the jumps, but by the last race he got it together to run clean πŸ˜… Rupert's curse of running out off the box outdoor returned πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ he ran perfectly in the first race in the blue lane and then it fell apart and he was pulled from racing except during warm ups, so we have some work to do there 😬🀣

This weekend we are competing at Hedsor on Sunday, with Racing in Division 2 and Running in Division 7 🀞 fingers crossed for nice weather and good racing ❀️

A few videos from training on Sunday 🐾

Jimmy and Maggie made lots of progress, both continued chute work at a slightly higher angle and did 4 jumps with no wings!
Lemmy was awesome managing lovely 4 footed turns without any training aids!
Darius was working on his confidence, while the others continued to work on reinforcing their turns 🐢

Training again on Sunday, last one before our first competition of the outdoor season in May! πŸŽ‰

Happy Hug Your Dog Day! πŸΎπŸ•

Our dogs deserve all the love and affection we can give them, which is why there's a special day dedicated just to hugging them!

Whether they're big or small, they give us endless love and loyalty every day! So take a moment today to give your dog(s) an extra big hug, play with their favourite toy or game, maybe a long walk or even get them a special treat 🦴

We have a few dogs on the team like Chi (pictured) who love a cuddle, so I'm sure they'll take full advantage today! 🀣

Show them some love and comment a photo of your fur-babies below! 🐾

We had nice weather for training today on Mother's day!
(Though we didnt manage to get much on video this week πŸ˜…πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ)

We continued the dogs box work and reinforcing their turns, and some of the dogs worked on their striding in and out of the box too.
We had a couple of newbies join us today, two whippets Jimmy and Maggie, who did awesome for their first session at 8 months old trying out some of the foundations! Excited to see how they get on πŸ‘€
We also made progress with Pi, a deaf Border Collie, who recently joined us at training, he spent some time getting familiar with the chute, and managed a few jumps today! We're doing everything at his own pace to make sure hes happy, but hes doing amazing!

Look forward to seeing everyone again at training next week! 🐾

Our thanks first of all to Shooting Stars Flyball Team for another great day at Maidstone yesterday from all at FPR.

Our 2nd team FourPaws Running in Division 5, earned themselves 2nd place! The dogs of that team starting to gel nicely together - Peyton had a go at running Augustus while Kerena ran Cyrus start, Kenzi and Lemmy ran consistently for Dawn and Chris, Niffler was also in the team for warm ups and did awesome! He kept good control of his turn on the box and even remembered his ball! Dixie also had a go in warm ups doing run backs after having some time out, and seems sound which is promising for her gradual return post injury.

Our top team FourPaws Racing, came 4th in division 1, and managed 16.80s as their fastest time! Super proud of the dogs, Gibson's 4th competition in open division, Darius hitting sub 4s, Austyn as reliable as ever, Rupert showed his training to improve consistency is paying off - back to running in from 47ft and he even pulled out a 3.88s during the afternoon races! Chimaera is gradually becoming more consistent, though he has a few bits at training to work on.

We would like to also say a huge thank you to the members inside and outside the ring that came to help when we had a collision between Gibson and Darius in the start gate, thankfully they both seem to be okay and without long term injury 🀞

We're looking forward to training next at the weekend - weather permitting!

Wow, what a day at Maidstone! We'll be posting a full update tomorrow, but just a special mention to one of the highlights of our day:

FourPaws Racing are officially back in the 16s club for the first time since 2018! πŸŽ‰
With a line up of: Gibson, Darius, Austyn and Rupert, smashing out a new seed time of 16.80, over full height - knocking almost 3/4 of a second off their previous seed time 17.53

Happy new year from FPR πŸŽ‰β€οΈ

We're looking forward to seeing everyone in the lanes in 2026. First we'll be competing in Maidstone, on the 11th January where we have 2 teams entered; FourPaws Racing in Div 1, and FourPaws Running in Div 4. See you there! 🐾

We're also going to be starting the year off by introducing the members and dogs in our team so get ready to see those in the next couple weeks! πŸ‘€πŸ•
