Over the last few weeks we've been busy!

First up on the 22nd August we were at Anstey Park hosted by Kennets.
Unfortunately Racing didn't get the results we'd hoped for, with Rupert having a satnav malfunction and Chi struggled to focus to begin with. Austyn, Darius and Gibson raced well - if only the other two could take note πŸ‘€
FourPaws Running are proving to be a strong and consistent team of Cyrus, Kenzi, Lemmy, Augustus and Bowtruckle 🀩 they came away with 2nd place with great racing in their division πŸ™Œ

The following weekend we were down in Folkstone for Shooting Stars tournament at Cowgate Farm.
Thankfully our teams were on the Sunday as Saturdays weather was rather wet and windy 🌧 Sunday was better and the dogs seemed up for it!
Rupert was pulled from Racing as he still hadnt found the switch for his satnav πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ but thankfully Chi seemed to get his head back in the game and he, Gibson, Austyn and Darius ran a fastest time 17.17s, they came 4th in Division 1.
Running, in Division 5, again showed off their consistency, achieving a 20.44s and won 4/5 races! - Putting them in a 2 way tie for 1st place! They came away with second place πŸŽ‰

On Sunday we were back to training and saw some great work from Tia 🀩 achieving clean runs and showing some great enthusiasm ❀️
Dawn's clan all smashing it with 4 feet on the box every time πŸŽ‰ (seems our new method with Lemmy could work so stay tuned πŸ€žπŸ‘€)
Chi and Bowtruckle worked separately, but both working on their drive to the box, and Rupert was given every reminder we could give to get him over the jumps πŸ˜…
The puppies Rowan, Siren and Zephyr did some awesome work, flat recalls and ball retrieves πŸŽ‰
TJ also got stuck in helping anywhere he possibly could with the dogs at training and thoroughly enjoyed helping to release a few of them too ❀️
We are back to training from now in preparation for Shooting stars competition in November πŸŽ‰

Had our last training session on Sunday before the Champs, all dogs looking good we practised changeovers and reinforced box turns with all the experienced dogs. TJ also had a go at helping to release Austyn and Chi for a few runs, and was being a great little ball collector (Austyn was less phased by the idea of being released by a 2yr old than Chi was 🀣)

We set off tomorrow for Uttoxeter Racecourse πŸŽ‰ we are taking 2 open teams to the BFA Champs,
In speed trials division 12 we have FourPaws Racing - Gibson, Austyn, Darius, Chimaera and Rupert
And in speed trials division 28 we have FourPaws Running - Cyrus, Kenzi, Lemmy, Augustus and Bowtruckle!

Looking forward to a great weekend and hopefully some exciting racing across all divisions 🀞

Training has been going well the past couple of weekends! We've been working on our experienced dogs in preparation for the Champs
- all 4 of Dawn's dogs, Gibson, Austyn, Lemmy and Kenzi giving us a full house for 4 footed turns on the box 🀩 Rupert being reminded that he does in fact need to bring the ball OVER the jumps πŸ˜‚ while the others worked on their box, striding and confidence. All round great progress from all of them 🀞

We also had the puppies Zephyr, Siren and Rowan doing some of the foundations, they definitely enjoyed their flat runs to their tuggies, ball games and becoming familiar with the surface of the chute board - these babies are going to be exciting to train πŸ”₯ (just need to figure out how to coordinate those long legs πŸ˜‚)

Last training session next Sunday (weather permittingπŸ™) before we set off for the champs πŸŽ‰

🐾 Looking for your dog's next big adventure? 🐾

Have you ever watched Flyball and thought, "I'd love to give that a go!" Well, now's your chance!

At FourPaws Racing, based in Chesham, we're always looking to welcome new dogs and handlers to our team!
We're proud to compete in BFA-sanctioned tournaments across England, and over the years we've had the privilege of competing at Crufts multiple times, with some of our now retired dogs achieving an incredible 2nd place in the Crufts Flyball in 2018.

While we're proud of what we've achieved over the years, every successful team starts with someone taking that very first stepβ€”and we'd love to help you and your dog do just that!

Flyball is an exciting, fast-paced team sport that's suitable for many dogs. It helps build confidence, improves focus and fitness, and strengthens the bond between you and your dog. Best of all, it's enormous fun!

Our experienced and friendly members will support you every step of the way, so don't worry if you've never tried Flyball before

🐢 If your dog loves to run, chase a ball, and have fun, why not come along and see what it's all about?

Lydiard Park 11th/12th July recap!

A few of the team travelled to Lydiard on the Friday to camp and enjoy a relaxed Saturday covering ring party duties and Ray judging a division. Racing was started both days at 7am in a bid to beat the forecasted high temperatures - and wow to have racing finished by noon on Saturday and 1:30pm on Sunday was awesome and not easy - but Odyssey Flyball Club pulled it off and provided ample shade, cold water from the hose and lots of paddling pools, and the Live in the Lanes kept racing slick and it all ran smoothly! Huge fan of having this available as it made it so much easier to keep up with racing and make sure everyone was ready and at the rings when needed!
The Odyssey Olympics on Saturday evening was again a highlight of our season, even though we just spectated, it really is brilliant entertainment πŸ‘ thank you all Odyssey and everyone else who participated for providing an evening full of laughter 🀣 and the commentary is always second to none πŸ‘Œ

When it had cooled down we had Chi, Cyrus and Darius booked in for ring time to work on a few bits before they were due to race on Sunday. Chi seemed to have switched his brain cell on compared to his performance at Anstey and was a good boy, practicing crosses with Cyrus and Darius separately, and working on keeping him engaged with what he was supposed to be doing, Darius was working on building his confidence crossing onto another dog and maintaining his technique on the box the same as Cyrus and they were both pretty paw perfect πŸ‘Œ
Bowtruckle threw a spanner in our plans to swap her with Chimaera between teams and she decided to come into season πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ so we swapped Austyn and Kenzi instead for Racing to potentially go WFC if needed should Ruperts satnav malfunction and Chi decide not to run 😬

We started off Sunday with Running, who all raced well and Austyn slotted in with no issues, they raced competitively and held their own (even if in the afternoon Austyn decided to start turning the opposite way on the box πŸ€”πŸ˜…) and there was some tight racing in their division against the other teams!
Racing went in prepared with the 'worst case' plan as back up - but thankfully πŸ™ Chimaera remembered what he was meant to be doing πŸ˜… Rupert didn't quite follow suit... Chi, Kenzi, Darius and Gibson all did their best, and although they came 6th in their division we were glad that we could still race and not go WFC

Thank you to Mark and all of Odyssey for a brilliant weekend and for all your efforts to battle the heat and complete racing before the hottest points over the weekend, the entertainment was as always top form ❀️

We're now back to training from the 19th of July in the lead up to the BFA Outdoor Championships in Uttoxeter in August where we will be competing with both our open teams πŸ™‚

We've been a tad quiet the last few weekends! Just an update on what we've been up to πŸ‘€

Unfortunately due to illness and other commitments we had to cancel our planned training session on the 28th June, which meant our next outing was at Anstey Park on the 5th of July hosted by Kennet Flyball Club

Both our open teams were racing on the same day, and it was hot πŸ”₯
Racing struggled as Chimaera decided it was just too hot and he was not up for running clean, and Ruperts satnav malfunctioned - so the less we say on that the better πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ leaving it down to the other 3 pretty reliable dogs Austyn, Darius and Gibson and we crossed everything that Chi would get his brain in gear πŸ™ˆ
Running raced well in their division, Cryus, Augustus, Kenzi and Lemmy were consistent, they beat their seed time of 20.47 with a 20.14 (which was a break out by 0.07s πŸ‘€) and bowtruckle continued building back her confidence for the first half of their division.
Due to the new weather policy, temperatures got too hot for racing and the remainder of the days racing was cancelled so Running missed out on their second half. Big thanks to Kennets for a lovely day of racing, even if it didnt quite go right for our top team πŸ˜… we look forward to being back at Anstey Park again in August 🀞

The following weekend we were at Lydiard Park hosted by Odyssey, our open teams were both on Sunday. Full update on that weekend to follow shortly πŸ‘€

A recap of DBARC (7th June) and Highbridge Farm (20th - 21st June) where we had 2 open teams competing at both, FourPaws Racing and FourPaws Running 🐾

DBARC hosted by Barkshire Bandits Flyball Team :
FourPaws Racing came 6th in Division 1, Gibson, Austyn and Darius raced well, Chimaera had a slight confidence knock after a minor bump from Austyn on a changeover, and Rupert is commonly known for being a 'blue lane only dog' when racing outdoor, so luck was not on their side in a very competitive Division, with some teams running much faster than us.
FourPaws Running came 3rd in Division 5! With Cyrus, Augustus, Lemmy and Kenzi running smoothly, really pleased with how well the dogs have gelled in this team and it was Bowtruckle's first time in the ring since her maternity ended!

We had training the weekend between competitions, then we were at Highbridge Farm hosted by Jets Flyball Team where the weather was rather hot and sunny!
FourPaws Running came 3rd in Division 4! Bowtruckle still getting back into the swing of racing, she was gaining in confidence and speed throughout the day, and the rest of the team gave it their all, coping well in the warm weather!
FourPaws Racing, came 6th in Division 2, Chimaera was still rebuilding his confidence from DBARC and also decided he really didn't like racing in the heat, as a result the team struggled to make it into the placings, though the other 4 dogs in the team raced well and unfortunate for them that Chi had decided it was too hot for him to run clean!

The dogs dont know what places they come and enjoy getting to race every time they're in the rings so we are proud of them all regardless of where they come - as long as they're running happily and safely ❀️

This Sunday we are back at training πŸ™Œ few things noted to work on and prepare for our next competition the following weekend! 🀞

Last weekend at Highbridge Farm, Dawn was presented with Gibson's BFA Flyball Dog Award for gaining a total of 1,000 points! And Kenzi also was awarded her BFA Flyball Dog Graduate Award for 3,000 points! πŸŽ‰

Kenzi began racing in open just over a year ago and Gibson made his debut to open in October of last year, they've both proven to be reliable and consistent in the lanes and do us proud every competition!

01/06/2026

Firstly a quick recap of our weekend at Cowgate (23rd-25th May), the weather was sunny and very hot! Our thanks to Shooting Stars Flyball Team for ensuring there was plenty of shade, fresh cold water available for dogs around the ring, and getting racing finished early each day before the hottest points.

Unfortunately neither team got into placings in their division, but they coped well with the heat and gave it their all, Niffler got to run a few legs and did awesome not even looking at the other side! Chi on the other hand doesn't appreciate racing in the warmer weather and ran 5.9s by the end of his racing and he decided it was too hot for him πŸ˜…

We had no training yesterday as we had a few members unavailable - Kerena was away in Norfolk volunteering as part of the crew at the Flyball Open World Cup 2026! FOWC 2026

FPR would like to congratulate all of the teams that participated, the teams that won their double eliminations and a huge well done to the UK representative teams winning the country ranking! There was some epic racing and great sportsmanship between teams in the rings, no matter which countries you were from ❀️

Next weekend FPR have 2 open teams competing at DBARC in Division 1, FourPaws Racing, and in Division 5 FourPaws Running 🐾

Now that they are 8 weeks old, we introduce you to the 3 of Bowtruckle & Darius' puppies that are staying within our team!

First up: Rowan, she's the smallest of the litter, but is cheeky, full of character and loves to run and cause chaos already! She is staying with Nicky, her mummy Bowtruckle and nanny Dixie πŸ’œ

Next we have 'the twins', brother and sister Zephyr and Siren. Both are full of beans and bomb around playing together, but do love to snuggle up at bed time. They have found their home with Teresa and David πŸ’›β€οΈ

We cant wait to be a part of their journey and see what they achieve ✨️❀️
