========DAY 3 OF THE FESTIVAL======
=================================

Yesterday was a complete write off for me!

Absolutely nothing went to plan at all.

Straight back to it though!

Let’s see how they go today.

I’ll keep it a little shorter this morning as I have plans early morning before the racing starts!!

=============RACE1=============
==========MARES NOVICE=========
===============================

4 in here noted for me from the trackers that I like

==============================
1:20 BAMBINO FEVER 11/10
==============================

Last years bumper winner is very hard to get away from here in the first race here, she looks all class and should continue Wi***es great run of form. She should be able to reverse form with Old School Outlaw here in my option as the going was heavy when beaten at skinny odds on debut and that going would not have suited her well. Impressive in her only other start over hurdles when winning by 12L making all. She has to go well here against her own s*x.

KINGSTON QUEEN 18/1 EW

Could go well, she was noted when winning well in November at Chepstow, she looked a very smart prospect in the making that day and done it well, she came to Cheltenham as a 2/1 fav but was well beaten in the end. That happen to be by OLD PARK STAR who won the Supreme on day one. That form is obviously very strong now! But in my opinion she didn’t run her race either, PIpe wasn’t himself in great form either, she made no mistake at Windsor when getting up in a grade 2 taking up the running 2 from home and that was on heavy going, that would not be her ideal conditions either so it was a good performance , the going today should be ideal for her, I just hope that race has not left its mark for today!

LA CONQUIERE 16/1

Impressed me on debut and went into the tracker and was even more impressive in a listed event the last day at Newbury, she cruised up going very well and put the race to bed really well, going should not be an issue having won on both Good and Soft going. She look an honest type who has a high cruising speed and can quicken up well off a generous pace.

PALACE DE LA NATION 28/1

This one could spring a little surprise and her form ties in with the Fav here too through OLDSCHOOL OUTLAW and another I think will appreciate this better going, she just couldn’t quicken in the heavy going but stuck to the task really well, her price looks far too generous to ignore completely.

My 1234

1st BAMBINO FEVER 11/10 WIN
2nd KINGSTON QUEEN 18/1 EW
3rd LA CONQUIERE 16/1
4th PLACE DE LA NATION 28/1

=============RACE 2=============
==========NOVICE CHASE==========
================================

=========================
2:00 OLD MAN DI**LE 25/1 EW
=========================
I’ll take a chance with this one today, he was impressive in a Grd3 event when noted and showed a really good attitude there when railing well, he was pitched into Grd1 company the last day and that was a step too far, he ran well for a long way though and wasn’t given to hard a time when his chance went. Back in handicap company here can see him in a better light in my opinion. Going no excuse here, trip is no issues either. Should give a good account in my opinion.
===============================

SLADE STEEL 8/1
has been brought along in novice events and enters a handicap for the first time, he is a supreme winner and his mark could look very low here and he could make a mockery of that now handicapping

SIXMILEBRIDGE 5/1
This would be a good story for Fergal to get his first Cheltenham festival winner and he could do just that today but the price is a little skinny. He has been very impressive over fences this season making all. His win here at Cheltenham 2 starts back was very eye catching indeed when hosing up! The form of his Grd1 has to be taken a little more lightly as the fav KITZBUHEL ) (WON HERE YESTERDAY) unseated early there. He looks sure to give his all here and if dominating could be very hard to pass but I have a feeling he and REGENTS STROLL will cut each other’s throats here and go off too fast and set it up for a closer! Hopefully my selection!

MEETMEBYTHESEA 7/1
is also noted and came from off the pace to win really well when noted, he could be the beneficiary if the pace collapsed, he travels well and jumps very very well, I expect him to be staying in well late now he drops back into a handicap here.

My 1234……

1st OLD MAN DI**LE 25/1 EW
2nd SLADE STEEL 8/1
3rd SIXMILEBRIDGE 5/1
4th MEETMEBYTHESEA 7/1

=============RACE3==============
==========MARES HURDLE==========
================================

Just one opinion in here.

Not a race I will be playing as no value in here.

Surely Gordon will have a winner here!

=====================
1st WODHOOH 8/11 WIN
=====================

She won the Martin Pipe for Gordon last year and was very good there, he has long said she is his banker for this year’s festival, only Paul & Willie look to spoil the party and it looks a match up here.
=================================

===========RACE 4=============
=========THE STAYERS==========
==============================

A really good renewal of the stayers ! So so many can have a case made for them!

But I am siding with……

========================
15:20 IMPOSE TOI 9/1 EW (NB)
========================

He has looked a different animal this year since stepping up in trip winning 3 on the spin before coming up short against MA SHANTOU here the last day but he didn’t enjoy the testing conditions in my opinion although he has won on soft he is better judged by his win in the Long Walk at Ascot where he was very very good on better going. He jumped and traveled and never looked like getting beat there. That race is a good trial for this race and he should go very close today I feel.

TEAHUPOO, BOB OLINGER, MA SHANTOU KABRIAL DU MATHAN!

All have obvious chances!

My 123

1st IMPOSE TOI 9/1 EW
2nd BOB OLINGER 7/1
3rd TEAHUPOO 7/2
=================================

============RACE 5===========
==========THE RYANAIR========
=============================

FACT TO FILE should take some beating here! But he is no price at all so going to take him on with…..

=========================
4:00 HEARTWOOD 14/1 EW
=========================

He was 2nd to the Fav in this last year and a case for him can be made to get much closer this time around, he looks to have had a better prep this time around winning twice, he looks stronger this year too being a year older. It looks quite an open race in comparison to
Last years.

I can’t have JONBON with his Cheltenham form coming up short here, he just makes too many mistakes here for some reason.

IMPAIRE ET PASSE 11/2 is the danger, he came back with a good win after a break the last day and is open to plenty of improvement and is a Cheltenham festival winner having won the Ballymore back in 2023

BANBRIDGE is another danger especially if the going gets quicker, he could give Sean his first festival winner it he is getting on in years now!

My 123…

1st HEARTWOOD 14/1 EW
2nd FACT TO FILE 10/11
3rd IMPAIRE PASSE 5/1

==========THE PERTEMPS===========
==================================

ANOTHER MINEFIELD! Where the Mrs when you need her! 📍😅😅🤣🤣🤣📍

But I am sweet on 2 here an will
Play both.

==============================
4:40 ELECTRIC MASON 10/1 EW
==============================

This one went into the tracker after winning his last race at Haydock, he traveled well up with the pace but hit a little flat spot and was quickly ridden to recover when he stayed on well to to hit the front at the last and battled well to hold off the late challenge of the 2nd. To me he needs a real decent test of stamina. I want him held up just off the pace and come with a very late challenge. The father and son combo like I said yesterday are both very capable and they came 3rd in the bumper yesterday. I guess the lack of a recent run could be a negative but I think they have been waiting for this race since qualifying and the better going too! Looks sure to go well in my opinion.

ACE OF SPADES is noted but held by my selection at Haydock and probably needs softer conditions.

The same can be said for KIKIJO progressive and on the up! But may need it softer.

The dangers for me are SUPREMELY WEST & MINELLA SIXO

SUPREMELY WEST could be a bit of a handicap blot here and has a nice weight turnaround with my selection, 13bs! but he hasn’t been in the best of form since. But it’s probably a case of keeping him sweet for this and protecting his mark. He simply could be a HANDICAP GOOD THING!

MINELLA SIXO 28/1 could go well and has only recently just qualified for this race, he ran a good race the last day but it was on heavy, but he has winning form on Good going too so he may well prefer this better going today. He is a fascinating runner having only just qualified.

My 1234

1st ELECTRIC MASON 10/1 EW
2nd SUPREMELY WEST 4/1 WIN

I’m having 2 in here and hopefully saving the best until last!

==================================
5:20 PRETENDS GARDE A TOI 12/1 EW (NAP)
==================================

This one out in a fine display of jumping and showed his appreciation for a decent stamina test when staying on strongly late on for 4th over 3m3f at Punchestown in the mud. I think the better going will help today as he has won on better going. He just hit a flat spot and dropped away into midfield when noting but he was strong at the finish doing all his best work very late. This test should suit him well in my opinion and you have to side with a top amateur here and Barry O’Neill fits the bill as he is a class amateur with so much experience for these kind of races. He should be doing all his best work at the finish. Hopefully can give the luckless Gordon something to cheer about.

One at a massive price is the Hendersons EXCELLO 66/1 EW

He was noted at Aintree and look as if he would also appreciate a real decent test of stamina. He comes here off the back of a fall which isn’t ideal of course but at the price I’ll have a few quid on him EW

=======DAY 2 OF THE FESTIVAL=======
=================================

Well, not too bad a start to the festival and still 3 days to go to try and find some more winners!

Plenty in the trackers with potential!

But can they deliver on the biggest stages of them all?? Time will tell..

Back to business…

Once again, regardless of the results I will enjoy everything about the festival for what it is..

===========RACE 1 ============
========THE TURNERS=========
=============================

2 I like in here from the trackers that I will play.

===============================
1:20 NO DRAMA THIS END 9/4 WIN
===============================

Let’s see if the English can get off to a good start on day 2 and hopefully can do the business here.

NO DRAMA THIS END has been very impressive since noting in his bumper at Warwick winning all his hurdle starts to date, he hasn’t really been tested properly just yet but the way he travels through a race and the extra gear he has means he will be a very dangerous horse wherever he goes! Nicholls claims he could be the next DENMAN! he obviously holds him in high regard and that is some statement! He has a long way to go to be up to those claims be I really like this horse going forward and should have loads more to offer!

TA**US BAY 33/1 can be given a squeak here judged by his effort in a Grade 2 here the last day, he traveled very well and probably hit the front too soon under sufferance and was mowed down late on. It’s not the first time he’s traveled so well, when noting he simply tanked through the race, very very keen and still won with plenty in hand that day. You have to be pretty smart to do this and still have plenty in the tank at the finish. I can see him settling better here with a generous pace pretty much guaranteed. He could be there at the finish at rewarding odds.

BALLYFAD Has done little wrong to date and just denied in a GRD1 the last day, he ran on heavy there and his best visual performance to me came on much better going. He rates a big danger to me here.

My 123.

1st NO DRAMA THIS END 9/4 WIN
2nd BALLYFAD 10/1
3rd TA**US BAY 33/1 EW

=============RACE 2 =============
=========BROWN ADVISORY========
================================

2 from Ireland that stand out to me from the trackers and with the form boost I am even more confident he can win this.

============================
2:00 ROMEO COOLIO 9/4 WIN (NB)
============================

This one taken really well to fences winning all
4 starts to date, I think he is a decent stayer in the making and the fact he has been running and winning over a trip the last twice short of his best cements my opinion he can win this. KARGESE who he beat the last day have franked that form by winning the ARKLE here on the first day. This step back up in trip to 3m1f looks a massive move in the right direction with how he has been winning over 2m4f in his first 2 chase starts. He looks very very high class to me and will take some stopping with a clear round of jumping. Gordon deserves a good winner and this will hopefully he will.

OSCARS BROTHER 14/1 EW

has also been very impressive so far over fences rattling up a sequence of wins, the last day when bouncing out and making all he never looked like being caught that day, BOY DID HE JUMP WELL! he was electric! A great attitude! Really attacked his fences, looking for the next one, for a novice he was sublime! I like this one a lot also, does he quite have the class as the NAP? I am honestly not sure, he could! But he hasn’t beaten an awful lot but the manner is very hard to ignore! I don’t think Mark Walsh would have had the option to ride this one, please don’t quote me but I think I am right in saying Conor King only has 3 horses in training!! I think the jockey Daniel, is his brother.. It a little family affair and respect to JP for giving these a horse to treasure for now! No surprise if he was to give it a good go from the front. He may have to settle close to the pace, but if there is little in the race I can see them going on and putting pressure on the rest with how he jumps so well he is exciting to watch and I couldn’t wish for the young lads more to have a winner here! What a buzz for them it would be!! ❤️

An ABSOLUTE MINEFIELD! 🤣🤣

Now where is my lucky pin 📍

Such a difficult race to solve!

I’m going to put up 2 against the field here from the tracker and one I am quite sweet on.

==========================
2:40 LUCKY PLACE 221 EW
==========================

This one has been in the tracker a while now and was my fancy for the stayers last term here, he was sent off 11/2 2nd favourite for that and was well fancied by plenty. His didn’t stay it’s as simple as that. He faded 2f out tamely. I find this one very interesting coming back from one chase run (which didn’t go well) to ply his trade again at hurdling. He has a touch of class about him and this drop back to 2m5f could be ideal for him. The booking of Brian Hughes takes the eye too! He should play his part in my opinion especially with the Hendersons team in good order.

CHART TOPPER 33/1 EW

This one went into the tracker very recently when coming down late on at Haydock, he was in the process of showing much more than his recent efforts and would have gone close in a hot handicap there, another who could appreciate a drop in trip with the way he was travelling that day with 4f to run. He is well bred and out of Presenting he should really appreciate better going too! He could be a dark horse in here in my opinion too!

==============================

Not a race I generally play in but tomorrow I will be and with just one horse. Yes! not very original! The FAV!

=========================
3:20 FAVORI DE CHAMPDU 5/2 WIN
=========================

My idea of the winner since his last run here over this C&D. He was an emphatic winner that day, he took to this test really and could not have been more impressive that day, he barely faltered at all, and won so so easily. Not much more to say about him really, goes on any ground and stays all day long.

STUMPTOWN is the obvious danger here and no doubt he will be tuned to the minute for it as he simply lives this test around here, but that fitness edge that the FAVORI has could be the telling factor in my opinion.

1st FAVORI DE CHAMPDU 5/2 WIN
2nd STUMPTOWN 3/1
3rd FINAL ORDERS 13/2
================================

==============RACE 5============
=======THE CHAMPION CHASE=======
================================

There are a few doubts to be very confident about the main players here so going to side with the previous Triumph winner in….

================================
4:00 QUILIXIOS 14/1 EW
================================

With doubts about a few in here I will play one I feel will give his running and looks a solid EW player here, he was in the process of run a big race when coming down at the last in this last year and with no JONBON or MARINE NATIONAL this time around he should get a place here in my opinion and looks pretty solid to me.

MAJBOROUGH should win this impressively IF he jumps ! He has had his issues and the going too will be much quicker! I still have my doubts about his jumping even though impressive the last day. But it was heavy! This will be much quicker and his jumping will be tested to the extreme.

IL ETAIT TEMPS could be the one if he is no worse for his fall at Ascot where he looked very tired, there could be more to it in my opinion as he didn’t seem to run any race at all. Coming into the Champion Chase on the back of that is not idea at all.

L’EAU DU SUD will probably be the main danger as his has had better prep this time around I feel but was beaten out of sight by IL ETAIT TEMPS at Sandown.

So many if and buts here so I sides with QUILIXIOS as he just seems the most straightforward and should go well.

My 123

1st QUILIXIOS 14/1 EW
2nd MAJBOROUGH 4/5
3rd L’EAU DU SUD 5/1

=======THE GRAND ANNUAL=======
==============================

Another complete minefield! 🤣🤣pass me the lucky pins📍📍📍📍

But what a race this is! Another of my favourite races of the festival. Fast and furious! Potential carnage as the soar over these fences at a ridiculous speed!

A few noted in here. And I’ll play 2 of them

==========================
16:40 BE AWARE 9/2 WIN (NAP)
==========================

Not very original going with the fav but he has a touch of class about him coming into a handicap for the first time and could be very well handicapped here in my opinion, it’s probably no secret either, he has been very highly tried in graded races and that form is very strong in the context of this race, he jumps really well, travels strongly and has a turn of foot to boot! Perfect for this race. I can see him held up just off the pace and come with a storming run coming to the last fence to attack late and sprint up that famous hill. I think he will take all the beating here.

Who chases him home!?

One with another touch of class I hope in….

TOUCH ME NOT 33/1 EW

He is an out and out 2 mile chaser who is just short of Graded class who likes to force the pace, he is QUICK! Very very QUICK! He jumps really well and has so much pace, he will force errors if he can get into the lead early and I WANT him to lead as it will set it up for the NAP here. So I just hopes he get an early position and can work his way to the front as he could be hard to pass if the young talent James Smith gets the fraction right. I can see him running well for a very long way, he may just falter up the hill late on though as he doesn’t really hide anything from the handicapper here.

My 1234

1st BE AWARE 9/2 WIN (NAP)
2nd TOUCH ME NOT 33/1 EW
3rd VANDERPOEL 9/1
4th INTHEPOCKET 10/1

=============RACE 7==============
==========THE BUMPER============
=================================

Not a race I ten to get overly involved with but I have 2 in the tracker.

=======================
17:20 BASS HUNTER 9/1
=======================

I’ll take a chance of the English getting a rare win in this race!

This one has been very impressive in 2 bumpers so far and the Ptp winner could have much more to offer, the bumper tends to suit horses who really stay well, they are not 2 milers in the future, they are often stayers in the making, he has made the running to date and although that may prove difficult to do here I would rather have a horse up with the pace in this race out of trouble as this race can be rough early doors with many jostling for an early position. He can hopefully give a good account here and wouldn’t it be a dream for the Gordon’s? Father and son, more than cable the pair of them! Chris is a fabulous trainer and his son Freddie is on the up! They are a right pair of characters to listen to post race and it would be a very emotional win for the pair I am sure.

LOVE SIGN D’AUNOU 4/1

He is the only Mullins bumper horse I have noted and he looks a worthy favourite here as he was really impressive on debut, he went a good clip and when asked he pulled clear of the field with ease, it was very eye catching indeed! No surprise to see this father and son combo winning either.
=================================

Well that is all from me. Hopeful of a winner or 2 but no surprise if I blanked either! 🙈🙆🏻‍♂️🤣🤣

Have a great day 2 my good people.

======DAY ONE OF THE FESTIVAL=====
================================

It’s been a long time coming as I simply can not wait for the Cheltenham festival each and every year. For me there is no better racing on the planet than the festival. 🤩🤩🤩

Dreams will be made! But also shattered! There will be amazing highs! Devastating lows! But without doubt some incredible action over the next 4 days.

I shall be going on Friday for my birthday celebrations and I’m as excited as the first time I ever went way back in 1992 where COOL GROUND won a thrilling Gold Cup! Hooked from that moment onwards and try to visit as often as I can.

So down to business!

So so many noted runners in the trackers to get through ! 🙈

Winners do not come easy at Cheltenham!

It’s a minefield of potential and hard luck stories!

I’ll do my best to highlight the ones I feel could perform well.

I am a PUNDIT! not a TIPSTER!

I love this game!

But treat it as a bit of FUN!

I try to look for VALUE and get the FAVOURITES beat.

There will be SOME favs that I can’t see past though! Especially in the Graded races where the value is difficult to find and you will need the class acts to falter.

So let’s see how they go on DAY 1

============RACE 1==============
======THE SUPREME HURDLE=======
===============================

=========================
13:20 OLD PARK STAR 5/2 WIN
=========================

This one has long been on my shortlist for the Supreme, he appears to have everything you need for a Supreme. The most important thing for me in the Supreme is the ability to jump and cruise at high speed, not just that, but the extra gear to seal the deal. There is very little margin for error in the Supreme. This one has it all to me, he has a very high cruising speed, jumps extremely well, quick and efficient losing little if any momentum at his hurdles. He has the ability to quicken (and I feel better going will see an even better performance) when asked to and will have no problems getting up that punishing hill. He reminds me a little of Hendersons ALTIOR with the way he goes about his job.

There are obvious dangers from Ireland and in my opinion England! It does look quite an open Supreme and no surprise if there was shock in the opener!

TALK THE TALK has done very little wrong and is my idea as the serious danger here. He looked to be coming with a winning run when crumbling at the final hurdle at Leopardstown Grd1 novice event but soon back on track there when battling well to gain a deserved compensation win in Grd 1 company. He has plenty of gears too and rates the main danger to me.

MIGHTY PARK was so so impressive on hurdles debut winning by a country mile, but what did he beat? my worry for this one is the going, he may need it SOFT as he was a NON RUNNER on Better going at Leopardstown. There is no doubt he is a very smart prospect in the making but I feel he will need rain to enhance his chances here, that said, he will no doubt run a big race here as the market implies.

EL CAIROS 5th in the bumper last year and sold by David Maxwell to Gordon, he has a massive engine, but his jumping is a concern to me as he can walk through a hurdle and he will not be able to get away with that here! the going is a slight concern too, another who withdrew on better going and his win came on heavy.

For me if there was a surprise it could be
SOBER GLORY @16/1 he has been plying his trade at a much lower level but has been very impressive to date apart from a blip at Sandown where he just didn’t appear to turn up at all so forgive that run. He has taken a slow and steady approach to this event and could come in under the radar. He will need to improve to beat OLD PARK STAR mind you but there is still an untapped potential there in my opinion for the resurgence of the HOBBS&WHITE team.

My 123……

1st OLD PARK STAR 5/2 WIN
2nd TALK THE TALK 9/2
3rd MIGHTY PARK 6/1
==================================

==========RACE 2========
======== THE ARKLE=======
========================

It looks like a match between the top 2 in the market and I think Willie holds the aces here. I’m siding with…. YES ANOTHER FAV! But it’s not a race I will be betting in as there is not much value that I can see.

==========================
2:00 KOPEK DES BORDES 6/4 WIN
==========================

Last year’s Supreme winner has proved his liking for the course and I think that will be the telling factor Tuesday. He was a very good winner here last year and has made the transition to chasing impressively with a bloodless victory. He didn’t beat much, but he has the WOW factor about him. He should take some beating granted a clear round of jumping.

LULAMBA obviously posses a huge engine but his jumping the last day at Newbury leaves me with doubts about his abilities to jump at speed early doors, there is normally a frenetic pace in the Arkle and if he doesn’t settle quickly into a good rhythm he will be in big trouble! But if he does settle into the race early no surprise to see him win either.

I’ll be sitting this one out from a betting point of view.

=============RACE 3=============
=====THE FRED WINTER JUVENILE=====
================================

A notoriously difficult race to solve! The form is sparse! It can also often throw up an outsider.

I have 2 noted I hear that I feel could be worth a 2nd look.

2:40 QUINTA DO LAGO 22/1 EW
==========================

This one went into the tracker with this race in mind back in October when winning and followed up at Punchestown showing a very willing attitude to get back up after being headed. He has been beaten in his last 2 runs but against some very useful types and that form is smart also, he could be nicely handicapped in my opinion and I just thought this stiffer track would suit so much better with his style of racing with the way he rallied at Punchestown, has won on Good and Heavy, ground will not be an excuse here and his willing attitude is something you really need at Cheltenham. Hope he will give me a good an account of himself for my EW support.

HARDY STUFF 20/1 was the other one of interest, he also showed a great attitude at Leopardstown when battling well to get up very late on and went into the tracker also with this race in mind. He came to Cheltenham in a GR2 event to no doubt gain some valuable experience but he did ran far too keenly and didn’t show his true worth that time. If that run can be forgiven he could go well.

=========THE ULTIMA=========

Love this race, always full of drama, nothing better than seeing seasoned handicappers in full flight over fences at Cheltenham. It’s one of my favourite races of the entire festival.

I have a number of noted runners in here! 🙈 I can make a case for most of them! I am bound to make the wrong choice! 🤣

Now I LOVE JAGWAR! My banker for last year’s entire festival, I have already backed him for a repeat win at the festival… Bit now I am swayed slightly with another who I think has been plotted for this race and will be my NAP for the day.

Noted as “A real staying prospect over fences” he was put in the tracker in 2024! after running at Sandown over hurdles with chasing in mind for the future. A BIG/STRONG chasing type. I think this has been a plan in the making for sometime now. So hopefully it all goes to plan today. He ran a cracker over 2m4f here 2 starts back hitting the front far too early and nabbed on the line, forget his last run over 2 miles, that was in my opinion just a piece of work to jump at speed. Now he steps up to 3m1f and hopefully we will see the real deal today from him as he looks a stout staying type to me.

JAGWAR 4/1 has to go very very well but his price is skinny now for a race of this nature. He is a class act mind you and if he was to win I wouldn’t mind one jolt. I have backed him. He is stepping up in trip here and that looks sure to suit too! I can wait to see him run at Aintree over the national fences, he is entered this year, but I think next year will see him go there with a BIG chance.

BLOW YOUR WAD 14/1 is another very interesting one, he moved from Tom Lacey to the Moores and he is a smart chaser and the switch has seen a little resurgence in his form he stays 3 miles well but not sure the extra distance will suit but if he does stay he will be a BIG danger in my opinion.

One opinion.

4:00 LOSSIEMOUTH 15/8 WIN
=======================

I think the fact Willie has decided to go for this race instead of the mares speaks volumes to me, She is class, she can reverse form on this better going with BRIGHTERDAYSAHEAD and she doesn’t seem to enjoy Cheltenham either. I think she will be an impressive winner and will have to quick a burst of speed for THE NEW LION here. The 7lbs allowance is a massive bonus too. ALEXI 20/1 has an EW chance should any falter here, he is progressing well and although basically a handicapper he won well here in a good time and could surprise a few of them.

Noted 2 starts back at Leicester, this one was very very impressive, jumped for fun and won with plenty in hand that day and looked one to follow over fences. Upped to 3miles the last day he simply didn’t stay, he ran well though to a point and was sent off fav for the race. He just faded 2 from home there, he is dropping in trip here to 2m4f and this could be ideal for him, he will stay which is a good starting point, I just want to see him settle just off the pace in around 7th/8th and pop away, he should be travelling well into the race and have plenty for the hill at the finish. He’s only had 5 starts over fences and should have more to come.

MCLAUREY 5/1 is a big danger, he looks to have been trained for this but 5/1 looks short to me, he was very progressive over hurdles and has taken a slow and steady approach over fences protecting his mark. He could be seriously well handicapped here and no surprise to see him go very very well.

THEATRE NATIVE 40/1 EW
I’ll have a couple of quid EW on this one too, this mare was very very impressive last April here and I thought she would progress, but she has not done so so far, but a return to Cheltenham may spark a revival, she could just be a spring horse? She looks overpriced to me, has a light weight, jumps really well in the main. She could outrun her big odds.

5:20 WADE OUT 10/1 EW (NB)
================================

WADE OUT is one some remember that I posted as a NAP here at Cheltenham 2 starts back and it was the ride of the ages from Sean Bowen. Off the bridle early and Sean certainly earned his fee that day, he was pushing and shoving from the start, but boy did he stay! He done his best work in the final 2 furlongs and stormed up the hill, he is clearly a lazy horse and has his own way of going about the game but this test over 3m6f looks tailor made for him with his endless stamina reserves. I just hope he doesn’t get tailed off too early as it will be fast run race. Don’t expect to see this one early, expect to see him in the last 2 furlongs staying on well and hopefully challenging at the last fence and grinding it out up that punishing hill. He does have top weight to contend with but he is a novice and top weight for a reason. He is the best horse in the race, cheek pieces on for the first time has to be a positive thing and hopefully that will aide him to settle and travel better today.

KING OF ANSWERS 14/1 EW

Could go very well also, he was super at Kelso, he really attacked his fences and jumped brilliantly the last day and looked the winner from some way out, he has plenty of stamina, it was heavy that day and it took some getting but he went through it easily and looked very impressive there. He should stay well and could put them all to the sword with his jumping and no surprise to see him go very very well here and these 2 are my bets against the field
