Well it’s been a quiet few weeks 😴💤

After 2 weeks away on holiday I was ready to get going again with W***y, except he had other ideas and had an extra week off as he came in from the field a bit lame 🤦🏼‍♀️

Luckily it was relatively superficial and as he’d been ridden a couple of times whilst I was away and he felt good again by Thursday when we had a jump lesson, I thought let’s just have a nice day and no pressure!

We rode for Shillingstone riding club as an individual which was fun and we didn’t do too badly considering the lack of prep 🙈 32 dressage, skimmed a pole in the sj and flew round the xc clear!

Our team manager took some lovely photos too which I’ll share tomorrow 🤩

Very pleased and now to book the next one!

From eventing last weekend, to snoozing through this one!

Love this xc photo - W***y is often very unsure of ‘gappy’ fences, so I’m still buzzing to get him over this one first time with a clear round 🙌🏻

This weekend, whilst I could hear the xc commentary for the BE at Bovington (how cool is that!), we had a chilled one - he’s mostly been snoozing and I’ve mostly been doing work on the house..

Had a great sj lesson again today with Ben who will ride W***y a couple of times whilst I go on holiday next week.. then we’ll get going again!

Double clear at our first 90 of 2026!!

Well not on paper but that’s my version 🥳

Pretty average dressage with a less than average score - we can do better than that so am not dwelling on it..

Showjumping - he was brilliant, so of course I cocked it up at the end by missing the last jump and having to circle 🤦🏼‍♀️ got what I thought was 4 jumping and 1 time but then saw we had 8- as far as I was aware, it was a clear round and it was lovely so I’m sticking to that!

Then, the bit I was 50:50 about.. with a ditch and several ‘gappy’ jumps which have always been W***y’s nemesis.. after feeling quite overwhelmed by all the semi professional riders in our section and feeling a bit useless at this point, I was quite nervous..
But, he tugged me all the way up the hill for the first third of the course and stormed round! We didn’t bother with a stopwatch as just wanted a nice round and went clear, only 5 secs over 🙌🏻🙌🏻

I love how brave he’s become and how all our flat and jump work is really helping - we had only the slight struggle in between the related distance at the top of the hill where I was too heavy with my hands, but the rest was much more organised and flowing👌

So happy to get this one under our belt and get going again! Next time I am not eventing after a day of working on a bloody construction site though with a 5:40am alarm 🤯

After a fantastic dressage outing, I didn’t expect to take another rosette home at our event, but as ever, W***y proved me wrong and produced a lovely test again (especially considering first time on grass for about a year!) - scoring 29.8 👏🏻

He then went on to deliver a double clear insider the time 🥳🎉 not batting an eyelid at the fake trakhener! (As you can hear, I was over the moon 🙈)

We finished 4th and I am so proud of him 😍 lovely to have all the support from my yard buddies too x

Today we entered a dressage competition before our event tomorrow as we could do a PYO class and ride our BE test - only...

Today we entered a dressage competition before our event tomorrow as we could do a PYO class and ride our BE test - only bloody won with 71%! 🥳🙌🏻

He felt great- so calm and rideable so I am really pleased to get such a good score too!

I don’t expect it will be the same result on grass but champagne is in the fridge and whatever happens tomorrow, I’ll just celebrate this achievement from today 🥂🍾

Very lucky to be having jump lessons with Ben Liles and yesterday we went up the road to Stour for W***y’s first xc on grass in almost a year!

Lots to work on (with my core, soft hands, shorter reins, upper body etc etc 😂), but W***y was brilliant and jumped everything with only a green moment at our usual trakhener nemesis!

Looking forward to our first event of 2026 at next week 🥳

Thanks and of course my cameraman who also made me a lovely shepherds pie for afters 🥰

Had a lovely weekend with W***y- best flat work we’ve had for a looong time! And then braved it over the ford this afternoon too 👏🏻

Enjoyed seeing the BE competition at our yard too - all has made me excited at the prospect of our first event in a year in just 2 weeks time!!
