DID YOU KNOW ?? Played seriously in parts of Northern England and Australia, Table Bowls gives Snooker and Pool players something new and fun. The game is played just like bowls on a lawn except each wood is carefully aimed using a special wooden chute.
A skillful game for two players, table bowls is designed to be played on a billiards table or other flat surface.
There are two different sizes of table bowls - 5.1cm (2 inch) and 5.7cm (2 1/4 inch) in diameter and two corresponding sets. Each set consists of a hardwood chute, an unbiased jack and 4 pairs of table bowls.
The 2 inch set features 4 pairs of bowls, each pair with a different bias. Jack is 1.25 inches diameter.
The bowls in the 2 1/4 inch set all have the same bias. Jack is 1.5 inches diameter.

A Very Sad piece of news regarding Carshalton Beeches Bowling club...... see as follows

https://www.yourlocalguardian.co.uk/…/18351245.sutton-prep…/
March 30th 2020 was a sad, sad day for Carshalton Beeches Bowling Club when the court judgement was delivered in the school's favour. We have agreed to vacate the clubhouse on April 12th.
It has been a long drawn out process and the physical and emotional stress incurred has taken its toll on club members.
Although many of our members will find alternative clubs in due course, nothing will be able to replicate the close, supportive community of over 100 members that has been brought to an end by the court's decision in what would have been our 90th Anniversary year.
The closure, although sad, pales into the distance compared to the lockdown being inflicted by the COVID19 virus. We hope that all readers of this post come through safe and sound, and we look forward to the time when restrictions are eased and we can all get back to enjoying life again

FANCY TRYING SHORT MAT BOWLS ???
Cheam Fields Inaugural Short Mat Bowling Open Singles Competition
Inspired by the bowling on TV! Now it is your chance to emulate the professionals with Cheam Fields short mat bowling single competition. All you need to do is sign up on Monday nights (9th, 16th and 23rd March). What else is there to do on a Monday night until the greens open.
Please do not worry if you feel your not as good as some of the skips, this is a fun competition and we will bias the first couple of rounds, so that hopefully you will play someone about the same level. Also we need a marker for each game so if your not playing, you may be asked to mark. All good experience as we learn from the experts among you.
Early rounds may be six ends (depends on numbers). As we have 6 teams of 4 currently playing in the team competition I hope at least 24 names to be added.
If you know anyone who fancies having a go at short mat, be them a outdoor bowler, tennis player, partner, friend or offspring talk them into putting their name down too.
We plan to charge a £1 entrance fee so it won’t break the bank and hopefully it will be a lot of fun. Special prizes will be awarded for trick shots, consistency and overall performance. Maybe even something for the winner too.
So please get involved what else have you to do on Monday evening!!! Any questions ask Stuart Nicol who will attempt to provide an answer.
