โšซ๏ธ Match Report ๐ŸŸ 

Over the last few weeks we have had a few friendlies against opposition from the division above as we look to prepare for next season.

1st match vs Wheldrake

This was a tough experience for us and while we struggled at times the score didn't reflect the match. At times it was clear to see why Wheldrake had earned 2nd place in their division but we really held our own creating some fantastic chances and playing lovely football.

2nd match vs Garforth Villa

This match didn't start well for us after we conceded in 18 seconds. It took a while to find our feet while also trialing a couple of new players. Although we went behind early we soon found our rhythm and went into the break 3-1 up. And while Garforth played some good attacking football we were too strong at the back and fast with our counter attack for them to cope. A good day at the office for us.

POTM were-

Ben, Charlie, Clayton and Jackson

3rd match vs Altofts

This one was always going to be a good match as most of the players know each other and bragging rights were on the line.
This time we were trialing 3 new players and once again we started slow with Altofts taking a early lead before doubling their lead on the 29th minute. We managed to pull one back after superb play from Riley and Brandon firing home. After the break we hit them quickly after a shot was rebounded off the post for Jackson to slot home. Altofts scored almost immediately to retake the lead but then something really clicked for us and we played beautifully fluid football. Adrin scored a fantastic lobbed goal to equalise which really rallied the team and one minute later we had taken the lead through Jackson after a lovely assist from Oliver P.
A few minutes passed before Riley turned provider again for Jackson to complete his hat-trick. Four minutes later Clayton made a superb run to then assist Riley to score a great goal and put the game to bed.

POTM were-

Adrin, Jackson and Thomas

Not bad results and great games for our trialing players. Three Gala's incoming now and a few more friendlies before a well earned break and some much needed R&R before we begin our new season (hopefully) in the new Saturday Garforth League.

A slight delay to posting this.

We ended our season with a win back in April and although we had played our opponents the week before they put up a valiant effort but in the end we were too strong and deserved to finish our season with another win.

On the day there were some superb goals scored and some beautiful football played by both teams.

Players of the match were:

Harrison, James B, James C and Coby

This concludes our best ever season as a team as we finished runners up in our division, earning promotion to division 3 ๐Ÿ˜.

But despite this there was also some sadness as we said goodbye to two fantastic players.

Connor- who despite only playing for us for one season became a very important player for us especially with his strength and wonderful long passing abilities.

Coby- where to begin... Coby joined us a couple of weeks after we formed and over the last 3 years we have watched him grow into a fantastic footballer and wonderful young man. Like Connor, Coby was a year younger than the rest of the team but this didn't stop either of them from excelling. They will be sorely missed.

Last night we played our penultimate league match and our final home game of the season, and boy did we do it in style.

Despite a 5 minute heavy shower just before kick off the match still went ahead. After not playing much over the last couple of months we were extremely rusty and the first 10 minutes were very even.

After forcing some good saves from the MF keeper we had our first corner and after a couple of attempts Oliver P found Connor at the back post to smash home the opener.

At this point MF were very rattled which we capitalised on very quickly and in the 15th minute James D played a superb through ball for Oliver G who scored with a well placed shot. 4 minutes later James D turned provider again with a great cross to pick out Oliver G again who lashed home his second.

At this point MF began to threaten and really tested our back line with some dangerous runs, but our back line held firm. After a MF attack the ball was played out to Oliver P who went on a dazzling run and set up Riley who scored a wonderful goal. Straight from Kick-off Brandon was like lightning to win the ball and play a through ball for Riley who placed the ball into the top corner.

MF had another couple of chances but Charlie and Alice worked extremely well to keep them out working well with Clayton in goal. In the 32nd minute Brandon won the ball in his own 18yd box and ran through half the MF team to send a great pass to Riley who lobbed the keeper to complete his hat-trick (in 6 minutes)

At this moment we switched off for a second and MF played a ball over the top for their extremely strong striker to head home.

After half time and a few players changing positions we were on the attack, in the 39th minute as James D made a zig zag run he was brought down in the box for a penalty. Up he stepped to smash home and put us 7-1 up.

More subs were made to accommodate our injuries as a few players literally ran themselves into the ground, in the 45th minute James D combined well with James B and Brandon to break down the left and took a curling shot which deflected into the MF net off their own defender (although it was heading in)

MF did everything they could to stop us, even making some extremely clumsy tackles which led to one of them taking out Brandon on the edge of the 18yd box and earning themselves a booking.

Up stepped Coby who scored from such an acute angle to score quite possibly the goal of the season. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Both teams began to tire but in the 65th minute Connor found the energy to turn provider for Oliver G to pick up and complete his hat-trick to cap off a superb all round performance.

Such a great game of football but we were unhappy to have conceded.

Players of the match were -

Riley- for his superb workrate and the return to his best form.
Oliver G- for his desire to win the ball and arguably his best performance for us.

One more match to go, and again its against Monk Fryston.

โšซ๏ธMatch Result๐ŸŸ 

Last weekend we faced Glasshoughton for a local derby, and while we edged them out earlier in the season we know how dangerous they can be.

While Glasshoughton had some great chances in the opening minutes our stand in keeper Clayton held firm and our defence kept composed.

After much back and forth play we managed to break the deadlock with a sublime pass from James D which Brandon managed to stab home .

1-0 to us at halftime and we knew that we would need another goal for security but Glasshoughton kept pushing for the equaliser.

And while we soaked up the pressure we managed to counter and Oliver P started one of his trademark runs then cut inside to score a screamer and give us our cushion.

After the goal there were little chances for both teams and we managed to see out the win.

James D for his creativity

๐ŸŸ Match Resultโšซ๏ธ

Weekend gone we faced Pontefract Colleries Yellows. Although they're rooted to the bottom of the table we knew they would put up one hell of a fight. If not for our exceptional stamina this could've been a much closer game. Fortunately for us we played some exceptional football and came away with all 3 points and still remain unbeaten in the league this season.
