My toxic trait is that the dip belt was lying on top of the 20kg plate after I’d finished my 15kg set and I took that as a sign from the universe to do it 😆

Wasn’t on the plan for the day
Got the rep It was a grindddd, but hey unexpected PB 🤷‍♀️

Sometimes it’s nice to just do something because you feel like it and you enjoy it.

Is this approach ideal all of the time? No😅But at the end of the day, I’m not a competitive athlete, my goals are entirely for the hell of it. I’m a 31 year old mum who just loves this s**t for my body, my mind and because it’s fun to see what I can do🤸‍♀️

Enjoyment is as big a factor for me as progress. And if I hit some cool milestones along the way? I’m absolutely here for it!

But there are two takeaways from this:

Mindset matters - Telling yourself you’ve got the rep before you do it and setting yourself up like you mean it is something you have to learn as a beginner.
You can tell before you even go for a lift whether you’re psyching yourself out or whether you’re actually in it and that in itself is a skill you have to learn (and one I will slowly build into you as a coach 🤣)

And secondly If you’re feeling good and you want to explore, why not? How else are you going to learn your body and figure out what works for you over the years?

This is one of the reasons I love Lucas makes things measurable with milestones, is principled but also encourages exploring movements, giving space to go a little off-piste at times and experiment.

Yes, you need structure, milestones and data. Winging it all together probably isn’t going to work long term if you have specific things you want to achieve.

But somewhere in the middle, there’s space for play. Doing something for the craic just to see what your body is capable of.

Even if your idea of a good time is adding a third of your bodyweight to your chin-up before the rest of your session 🤣

Order and chaos combined.

A favourite of mine ✨

Kim’s first strict chin-up 💪🏻✨

I’M SO PROUD GIRL💜

Even more so because she did it absolutely hanging 🤣

Sometimes the best PBs are made on days like these. Though that’s absolutely not me suggesting you prep for a session with a session 🍺🤣

More just a little reminder that in an era of optimising absolutely everything you can still enjoy your life AND build strength

Kim’s been locked in with her upper-body goals for the last couple of months and the progress has been unreal. Huge improvements in her handstands, push ups, overall upper body strength and now

🔓chin up unlocked 🔓

She recently set the goal of getting her first chin-up by Christmas but she put the work in and smashed it in September!💪🏻

First solid rep in the bag = spamming chinnies for life now✨

Kim’s been with me 1-1 for around a year and watching her get stronger, learn new skills, set herself goals and surprise herself with what she can do is my favourite part of coaching 🥹💜

First time getting this transition💪🏻 pullover muscle up negative into another pullover. A few weeks ago I posted on my stories about how I could kick myself into a pullover easily when I first tried a couple of years ago but it wasn’t until I started trying to get a strict one, I realised it was a skill I really had work to do on 😆

A fight for a couple of months to get it but now a pullover feels easy most days and we move on to the next challenge🤸‍♀️ still work to do on it but I’m embracing posting the messy side too and not just the best because training doesn’t actually look like that.

Anyways this is the best part of calisthenics/skills for me, if you stick with it, there is always another thing to learn and figure out. How could you ever get bored of training like this? 🥹

Ready when you are 💜

Come train in a space where you don’t have to be anything other than yourself.

No pressure to look a certain way, be super fit already or have everything figured out…
(plot twist: I don’t have it all figured out either, let’s figure it out together 🤣)

And if you want to train in your PJ’s instead of a matching gym set I’m so here for it xoxo

This is what it’s all about 🥹💜

From not even sure about starting to real life changes in body and mind 🙌🧠

So proud of the work Jo has put in and how far she’s come, a strong lady inside and out!
(The best bit it she told me she’d be a nightmare client but she actually kills it every week! 🤣)

When Jo started telling me what it meant to her to be able to scoop up her daugther without having to think about it I started tearing up

This is exactly the type of progress that matters. I want people to see that they can do this, that real life fitness isn’t perfect and you don’t need to change to fit into the glamourised ‘wellness girly’ box.
It. Doesn’t. Matter.

The difference showing up for yourself can make in all areas of your life is invaluable, that’s what matters most💜

No more waiting around to get started. We got this 💪🏻✨

A huge fan of ROS, so when I saw Lucas was coming to Ireland I had to make it 🙌

An amazing weekend, with lots of discussion around how many people never really push to see what their body is capable of and how it can move safely in more ways than you think.

There’s a starting point for everyone. Don’t write yourself off just because you didn’t start training splits as a kid and now, as an adult you move like a tin man so it must be over…
Absolutely not the case!

A few years ago I couldn’t even touch my toes with straight legs. I started gymnastics on a whim as an adult and looking around at ex gymnasts just hopping into these positions, I never thought I had a hope of getting there
Now I’ve hit a front split and I’m pretty close to a middle split by implementing various approaches and most recently Lucas’s programme, which combines lifts with splits, absolute gold! Another belief I previously held was you could only be bendy or strong, you couldn’t be both at the same time 😅

People will say
“Aww that’s easy for you, I could never.”
But I couldn’t either!!! Until I started diving into new ways to train that weren’t so rigid which is why I get so hyped about it 😂 Open yourself up to exploring and you’ll be surprised where it can take you.

My body has never felt better or stronger since changing my approach and I’m not stopping ✨ You’re capable of way more than you think with a bit of intention and patience 🙌

Huge thank you for a fantastic workshop led by and to the hosts for making everyone feel so welcome, you’ve got an amazing space. It was great to connect with you all 💜

Showing my new learns to my number one fan and he comes off with this remark 🤣 Can always rely on my husband to keep me humble and not take myself so seriously ✨
