Not all heroes wear capes!
This season, our adult team, Xplosion has had its fair share of challenges, especially with injuries. st one point we genuinely thought we were cursed🫠
But because of two incredible people, we were still able to compete this year after what was proving to be impossible for us
First up is our lovely Emma 🎀
She cheers for Ulster University Elks normally, and Emma offered to help us by stepping in back in November when one of our athletes suffered a knee injury, helping us get through ICE in February. Then when we unfortunately faced another knee injury before Stunt City, Emma stepped up again without hesitation
Not only did she perform TWICE that day, she even executed a full extension single leg for the first time EVER on the warm-up mat minutes before we went on to perform due to a foot injury on the day of competition… like seriously, how unreal is that?! 🤯🔥
At this point we figured she may as well finish the season with us, so she’s joining us for Galway too! And safe to say… she’s a VCC girl now 🩷
And then there’s Michael 🙌
When one of our athletes had to be rushed in for emergency surgery, Michael stepped in with just TWO WEEKS until our first competition
Michael had absolutely zero knowledge of cheerleading and had never done it before in his life. In a sport like cheerleading, where there can still sometimes be stigma around men taking part, it takes real confidence to step in like that but Michael didn’t hesitate for a second
Not only did he take it on, he worked incredibly hard, slotted into the team so naturally that he’s basically one of the girls now 😂 and he’s amazing at it 😮🔥
Everyone in Xplosion wants to say the BIGGEST thank you to these two HEROES. If they hadn’t stepped in the way they did, we would never have made it onto the competition mat this season at all.
Your commitment, courage, and willingness to help this team means more than we can ever say
Thank you both so, so much 🖤⚡️
