It wasn't to be for our U14 Girls as they travelled to Newport for the inaugral Criced Cymru/Cricket Wales Wales U14 Girls Finals Day.

A semi final against Pontarddulais cricket club and the girls posted 124-2 with some great batting from Katie F 31, Kali O 30, Ava D 19 & Lois D 18. In reply the bowling was just as good as we restricted Pontarddulais to 40 - Erin J 3 Wickets, Isabel H 2 Wickets & Iris VM 2 Wickets.

In the Final a well disciplined Newport bowling attack restricted us to 26 all out with Newport claiming victory & the Trophy.

Well done to - well deserved winners.
Well done also to Pontarddulais cricket club & Pontblyddyn Cricket Club for making it to Finals day.

Great effort from our girls.. day 🏏🏏

With the Semi Final against Pontarddulais Cricket Club at 11am , the winners playing either Newport or Pontblyddyn in the Final at 2pm.

Our midweek team topped of their first year in the Carmarthenshire Midweek League in styles today. Securing the Cup at the 6-A-Side-Festival today in Bronwydd, with victory over the hosts in the final 🏆

A brilliant day and the team thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality of Bronwydd, and appreciate all the work put in by so many to achieve a successful day of cricket👏🏏

🏏 A Tribute to Nigel Roberts, CWCC Chairman 2013–2026

It is with gratitude and warm appreciation that we announce that Nigel Roberts will be stepping down as Chairman of Carmarthen Wanderers Cricket Club at the end of August, after an incredible 13 years at the helm.

Nigel took up the role in 2013, and from day one he has championed the club’s core philosophy: nurturing junior talent, improving our facilities, and building deep roots within the community. Guided by his vision and supported by a dedicated Committee, the club has grown in so many ways:

✅ Women’s and Girls’ cricket established and thriving
✅ A Third Team introduced, expanding opportunities for all
✅ A second ground secured in partnership with Bro Myrddin School

And what a journey on the field! Under his watch:
✅ The First Eleven gained Premier League status - and held it for eight seasons
✅ Reclaimed top-flight status as South Wales Cricket Association Champions
✅ 2026: Promotion to Premier 1 - the highest standard of club cricket in Wales!
✅ SWCA Cup winners - in 2017 and again just last weekend! 🏆

These achievements are written into our club’s history - and they are built on Nigel’s steady leadership, his belief in what we could become, and his tireless work to make it happen.

The best news? Nigel isn’t going far! As a Life Member, he will remain involved behind the scenes - and we are so glad his wisdom and experience will still be part of the Wanderers family.

Diolch yn fawr, Nigel. Thank you for your vision, your dedication, and your outstanding service. You leave the club stronger, bigger, and better than you found it - and we are all proud to have travelled this far with you.
