A personal safety post for our female friends and family. Please read, re read and share !🙏🏻
1. Don’t put yourself in a situation where you are alone. Plan ahead, get a cab, stay with a friend or let someone know where you are and what time you are expecting to be home.
2. Always stay situationally aware. No headphones, don’t be distracted looking at your phone, stay in well lit, open and public areas.
3. Keep your phone in hand ready to hit the emergency SOS button. You can also use it as a weapon if needed.
4. If your intuition or gut instinct tells you something is not right, believe it. Run fast and run far preferably towards busy areas and never be afraid to knock on a front door to get attention or help. Always if possible try and escape in the direction you came from as you know where shops or help could be.
5. If none of the above have worked and you find yourself confronted and cornered scream, scratch, tear, spit, kick, elbow, go for the eyes, the throat, the groin, never punch, use palms or you’re likely to break your hand. Never put your keys between your fingers - a punch with keys like this could end up with you losing use of a finger or tendon damage at best. Instead hold your longest sharpest key in your fist and use it to stab or hack, again at the face, eyes, throat.
6. At all times look for your escape opportunity. If you are alone walk with a purpose, confident and looking around.
7. If wearing high heels, take a pair of foldable flats that can go in your bag, if you do have to walk, put the flats on so you can walk silently, put one heeled shoe in your bag and one in your hand, high heels are devastating weapons if needed.
Stay safe 🖤
