Top try scorer 🏆
Jackson

Once Jackson got going this season, there was no stopping him.

A powerful ball carrier with an eye for the try line, he made a habit of dragging defenders with him, crashing over from close range, and finding a way through no matter what was in front of him. A real man mountain with ball in hand.

Finishing the season with an incredible 27 tries, Jackson is a fully deserved winner of the Most Tries Award.

Not only did she birth our legend of a captain Ollie, she went on the create a further 2 rugby legends in the making, manages the Creighton u9s, and on Sunday was presented with the well earned and fully deserved Volunteer of the year award, the family are going to need to build an extension just to house the awards they’ve received this season! Congratulations Steph, we love ya!

Try of the Season 🏆
Junior Graham

Junior’s intercept try away at Carlisle in the local derby had everything — the read, the run-in, and the finish. Even sweeter knowing it came against our rivals and from a move he’s been trying to pull off for years!!

But it wasn’t just the try that made the moment special — it was what came after. The reaction from the lads said everything. The celebrations, the support, and everyone piling in knowing exactly how much that moment meant to him.

That’s what this group is all about 💙

Most improved player 🏆
Kai Cottam

This year’s Most Improved Player award goes to someone who never stops working, never takes a backwards step, and grew stronger every single game. An absolute asset to the team and fully deserving of the recognition.

Congratulations!

(Coach Whyte would also like Kai to stop trying to injure him at training…)

What a season it’s been for the lads. At the start of the year, we were struggling to field a full squad some weeks — now we’ve got 25 signed up and representing the club. That growth doesn’t happen by accident, so massive credit to every player who’s brought new faces down and helped build something special at Sycamore Lane. Keep pushing, keep recruiting, and keep growing this brilliant group.

A huge thank you to our sponsors — Buckle & Jones, The King's Arms, Dave Milne, and Betty Whyte-Caine — for backing the team this season. And to every volunteer behind the scenes: thank you. From serving hot dogs, sorting washing rotas, helping with coaching, organising matchdays and everything in between, this club simply wouldn’t run without you. Every role in this club is voluntary, and that support means everything. Special mention to Beanzy as well for supporting Coach Whyte all season while coaching his own team too.

The progress this group has made has been unreal, and as manager I couldn’t be prouder of the lads. Captain Ollie winning Players’ Player says everything about the respect he’s earned — a leader who sets standards, gives everything, and leads from the front every single week. And the absolute icing on the cake to a fantastic season was bringing the Shield Cup home to Sycamore Lane.

Personally, being named Club Person of the Year means a lot, but that award is really a reflection of this team and the people around it. It’s easy to give your time and effort to a group like this because of the character, commitment, and spirit the lads show week in, week out. A special season with a special group — and this still feels like only the beginning.
