A brilliant weekend of training & camaraderie just completed at our 28th consecutive Annual Chojinkai Winter Course @ Center Parcs with around 30 members & instructors training 🥋 Headed by our Chief Instructor Doug James 9th Dan - many thanks to our 6th Dans, Darren Longstaff & Mark Heaton for their constructive sessions. Now for a bit of relaxation 🍻 Next years course will be 15th to 18th January 2026👌 Book for next year within next 4 weeks for the ‘come back soon’ booking discount 👍 see everyone next year 🥋😀

Great turnout today for the last Association Senior Training Course of the year, covering Renraku waza & Grading syllabus taken by Doug James 9th Dan, Ray Hind 7th Dan & 6th Dans Darren Longstaff & Mark Heaton. The following were successful taking 1st Dan grading - James Beniams (Brampton) & Eleanor Stafford (Newcastle) along with Oliver Tomlin to 3rd Kyu🥋🥋🥋👏👏👏

Just finished our 50th Anniversary Chojinkai Clubs Championships at 4pm today after a 10am start. A massive thanks to all the officials & helpers, giving up their day for the benefit of our great Association & especially Chris, our Events Coordinator 👌 150 entrants from all of our 8 clubs & happily all the clubs entrants medalled, from 4yrs to 59yrs 👏👏👏🥇🥈🥉

Excellent turnout today for our Quarterly Senior Training & Grading Course conducted by Doug James 9th Dan, Ray Hind 7th Dan & Darren Longstaff 6th Dan. We covered Advanced Kata, Ippons, Ohyu & Kihon Gumite & introduced everyone to the Syllabus changes, particularly the new combinations for 2nd & 3rd Dan. Many congratulations to Aidan Kidd (Haltwhistle) & April Charnley who graded to 2nd Kyu Brown Belt. Our next Chojinkai event is the 50th Anniversary of our Clubs Championships on 12th October @ Penrith Leisure Centre 🥋

A fantastic day of camaraderie & friendship today at our Chojinkai Fun Day. Over 150 members & parents turned out & we raised £500 for the Great North Air Ambulance 👏👏 A brilliant joint effort by the organising team & a massive thank you to the club head & senior instructors who made the day possible 🥋👍

Great turnout today at our quarterly Senior Training Course taken by Grading Panel members Doug James 9th Dan, Ray Hind 7th Dan & 6th Dans Darren Longstaff & Mark Heaton. Covering advanced kata, take downs in the pre-arranged blocks & the importance of holding the pads & kick shields correctly. A Senior Grading followed with Matthew Warren & Harry Clarkson achieving 3rd Kyu, Martin S to 2nd Kyu & the following to Junior 1st Dan, each one originally started on our unique ‘Little Dragons’ programme for ages 4 through to 7 years - Harry Parker, Lily Prudham, Noah Fielden, Tilly Fielden & Aika 🥋🥋🥋🥋🥋👏👏👏👏👏

An amazing day today with 130 Chojinkai members completing for the 10th consecutive year, the 10th Anniversary Gelt Gladiator Mud Run at Walton nr Brampton. Led by Head Instructor Mark Heaton were members of all ages from Carlisle, Brampton & Wigton & many thanks to Mark, Lewis & Donna for all the preparation 👏👏👏

We’re bringing all our clubs together for a fun-packed morning of games and activities – and you’re invited! Open to all Doug James Chojinkai Karate Association - BKC members and their families, this is a chance to get stuck in and support a brilliant cause.

Activities include:
Giant Sumo Suits · Gladiator Duel Inflatable · Dodgeball · Tug of War · Superstars Challenge · Test Your Strength · Throw a Sponge at Your Instructor (or your parent!) – and more!

Free entry, with small charges for some activities. Donations on the day are also welcome.

All profits will go to the Great North Air Ambulance Service, helping fund life-saving emergency care across our region.
