🛡️ ATKDA ACHIEVES THE SAFEGUARDING CODE IN MARTIAL ARTS 🥋

We are extremely pleased to announce that ATKDA has successfully achieved the Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts. ✅

The Safeguarding Code recognises martial arts organisations and providers that have demonstrated that they have reached and maintained good safeguarding standards, helping parents and carers make informed choices when selecting a martial arts provider.

For ATKDA, this recognition reflects our continued commitment to providing a safe, supportive and well-governed environment for children, young people and adults across all of our clubs.

A very important thank you must go to Taekwondo Council UK (TCUK). As our National Governing Body, their safeguarding framework, policies, support and ongoing guidance have been instrumental throughout this process, and achieving this recognition would not have been possible without the standards and structures they have put in place.

Safeguarding is about much more than having policies on a website. It is about creating the right culture, ensuring appropriate procedures and training are maintained, and making sure everyone involved understands their responsibility to help keep people safe.

The Safeguarding Code was developed through consultation with Sport England, martial arts governing bodies and safeguarding experts, with support from the Child Protection in Sport Unit, Ann Craft Trust and NWG Network.

👏 Thank you to all of our ATKDA instructors and volunteers who continue to uphold these standards within their own schools, and to TCUK for the work taking place at governing-body level to support safer martial arts across the UK.

Competition Opportunity 🥋

ATKDA members looking for another chance to compete this year may be interested in the Sovereign Open 2026, taking place on Saturday 10th October in Swindon.

The event is open to competitors from all Taekwon-Do organisations and includes both patterns and sparring, with divisions for juniors, cadets, adults and seniors.

It looks set to be a great day of competition and another valuable opportunity for students to gain experience, test themselves and enjoy competing against people from outside their usual circle.

Early Bird Entry: £30

SUMMER TRAINING ☀️🥋

If you’re around, come and train!

We know summer can be a busy time with holidays, days out, family plans and changes to everyone’s usual routine, but keeping some consistency with training can make a big difference.

For children, teens and adults, regular Taekwon-Do training is a great way to:

🎯 Keep your skills sharp
💪 Build confidence
📅 Keep your routine
👊 Keep progressing towards your next goal

Quieter summer classes can also be a brilliant opportunity to get a little more individual attention, work on areas you want to improve and enjoy training with your clubmates.

What a fantastic day of Taekwondo!

Firstly, a huge thank you to our referees, umpires and all event volunteers.
Your professionalism, time and dedication ensured the competition ran smoothly and safely — we simply could not do this without you.
