What you don’t usually see in my reels…
Today was a heavy leg day.
The kind that makes it hard to even walk: squats, bodyweight and weighted squat jumps, deadlifts.
Legs? Completely wiped out.
And right then, I decided to challenge myself.
Plyometric jumps.
Not just that: I even added a mat, forcing myself to jump higher than usual.
I tried, tried, and tried again.
It felt impossible.
Yet deep down, I knew I could do it.
I just had to believe in myself more.
My mind knew I was exhausted from training and tried to sabotage me, but something inside said: “You have to do this, especially because it’s hard.”
It’s easy to push when you have energy.
The real test is: what do you do when you’re tired but still chasing a goal?
That’s when you build something inside yourself.
At least, that’s how it works for me. It always has.
Martial arts masters like me who travel often to lead workshops know this well:
jet lag, little sleep, unusual meals, dehydration…
maybe you’ve just had a heavy training week, or you’re running your second workshop of the day after demonstrating techniques for hours.
And yet, you have to be there.
Physically, yes—but above all, mentally.
You have to give your best.
You have to keep the level high.
The same goes for athletes who must perform incredible feats repeatedly in competitions,
or for actors and stunt performers who have to do and redo the same move until told to stop.
They have to execute perfectly every time, even when tired—for themselves (they wouldn’t want the director to pick that one imperfect take for the final cut),
and for the result of the film.
Because the truth is: in life, you’re almost never in perfect conditions.
You’ll be tired, stressed, distracted.
Yet, if you have goals, work-related or personal, you need to find the energy inside yourself to pursue them.
So either you wait for the perfect moment…
or you learn to push through anyway.
It’s in the hardest moments that you discover what you’re truly capable of.
Of course, always with judgment: safety comes first.
