That is do, you prefer your sprint turn inwards like Bartley, or outwards like Burton?

Chaos before the turn? Or aftwards?

Wow, how time flies.

12 months ago today, after a few chats out paddling and some deliberation over names and things...

We set up a page and announced to the world, we'll Facebook anyway. We were going to set up a SUP race series.Pump n Paddle was born.

Since then we've gained our sponsors, who have supported us and believed in us throughout. Despite being a new venture in our concept of engaging and nurturing new paddlers into the race scene...

The four of us who run the series have learnt along the way. Mostly with smiles and some, "okay that works" cool moments...

To date we have had two of our races. We have seen some pretty Elite level paddlers, join the racing fun, and there has been some epic racing at all ends of the spectrum. There has also been exactly what we were after, with juniors, first time racers and even what we thought were experienced distance paddlers that had never done technical or sprint racing.

The first two races have been received by you guys participating very well, with laughs, giggles and some pretty awesome paddling.
Seeing you on race days, laughing smiling then watching game face change on the start line has made it all worthwhile. Knowing that we have done a thing and it is benefiting all you lovely people is the best thanks we can have.

Our final race of this series is on the 18th July at Pitsford reservoir @ Northampton Sailing Club. Entry is £30 for a full day's racing which includes, sprints, technical and distance races. Access to a demo fleet of boards, fins and paddles from our sponsors with ample time throughout the day to gain expert advice and give them a go. It's also gives you entry into our prize draw. For not only race day, but the series prize draw. There are some amazing prizes available. We also have a disco on the evening with a fully stocked bar and an evening bbq.

What are you waiting for sign up lets see you there

When we set up this race series, we decided to do something slightly different with prizes.
Thanks to our wonderful sponsors, we have a stash of prizes for each event, which we normally raffle off (your bib number is your entry ticket).
We also have a few discretionary prizes.
For Bartley, the Utter Carnage Award went to Simon Finlayson for not one, but two pieces of mayhem in the mens medium board sprints.

Well done! 😃

Just looking through the hundreds of photos we took, and the results from yesterday's fun and we noticed something slightly odd with the mens results...
What's faster? A longer 14' board or a medium 12'6?
Well, looking at the results, its the 12'6 boards!

Both Mark and I commented in the RIB how strong Simon, Bruce and Andrew looked absolutely hammering it around the two laps for the distance race.

We know iSUPs ride differently than hardboards, but in the real world, how much is down to the board, and how much the rider?

(And we're going to suggest those three borrow a 9'6 WW SUP for Pitsford to really see who's the boss!)
