Swans Walk Over Mickleover Reserves!
A strong battle sees the Stapenhill Reserves pick up another win on the road and progress into the next round!
With several key players missing, it gave some of the other lads the chance to step up and show what they can do and boy, did they deliver! Mickleover had no answers for our relentless attacking threat, with Musa Jeng, Brad Rankin, Taylor Holmes, and Joe Connell constantly causing them problems.
The Reserves started brightly and were a constant danger. Mickleover were fortunate to go into half-time at 0–0.
The second half kicked off and Taylor was played through by Alfie C, calmly putting us deservedly ahead.
Mickleover pulled one back against the run of play, capitalising on a cheap foul. They took the free-kick quickly and caught us napping.
The Swans made changes to bring on fresh legs, and the impact was immediate Elliot got himself on the scoresheet to make it 2–1.
Just two minutes later, he brought the ball down and slipped a perfect pass through the defence for Musa, who rounded it off by sitting the keeper down and slotting into an empty net to put the game beyond Mickleover.
Mickleover couldn’t handle the physicality of the contest, which gave us the edge both defensively and in attack.
The Swans march on to the next round!
