On Sunday 22nd March 2026 Burntwood under 15s faced Willenhall/Wolverhampton in the final of the Staffordshire Plate (White League).

This was the culmination of a season of blood sweat and tears for all the lads.

In the first half our lads pulled away and went into half time with a two try lead.

However Willenhall/Wolverhampton were down but not out they battled back to level then pulled ahead by a conversion with 10 minutes to go.

But the boys from Burntwood didn't quit. They kept there head up. They kept fighting for each other and the club.

With their season on the line the lads battled back to win the game 41-29. Becoming the Winners of the Staffordshire Plate (White League) and securing the first trophy for Burntwood's Mini and Junior section since the pandemic.

All season the boys played, trained and fought for each other and deserved the win yesterday against a tough opposition.

WE ARE IN THE FINAL 🏉

On Sunday 22nd March our boys play the biggest game of their season. It has been a long tough road with both highs and lows.

But all the freezing nights on the training pitch. All the early mornings. The bruises, injuries and aching limbs have lead us to this game. A game where the Boys from Burntwood play in the final of the league.

These lads have worked all year for this day. For us as coaches it has been an honour to watch them grow not only as a team but also into young men who have heart, grit and courage. They are a group that embodies what it is to be rugby players.

If you would like to come and watch our boys put their bodies on the line for each other, in pursuit of glory and a winning season please join us at Lichfield rugby club, kick off is 11 o’clock this Sunday.

All that is left to say is UP THE WOODS!!!!

01/03/26 🏉

SAM - Sam came to us with the right attitude and asked the right questions to improve his play. He started the game at full back, a position that he is new to and did a great job. Huge well done Sam.

MICHEAL - Micheal is another player with the right attitude. He worked hard all round the park on Sunday and skippered the side when our captain was off. marshalling the lads with confidence. Well done Micheal.

Men of the match.

Hayden: Hayden was selected by the lads because of his performance on Sunday. He commanded the attack from fly half and made some amazing tackles in defence.

Billy: Billy was all over the pitch today making amazing runs, tackles and flying into every breakdown. He sealed his place as man of the match with his rugby knowledge when he dropped into full back off the flank to cover the position when his team mate was making a run.

Men of the match.

Jackson: It is not always easy to stand out as a prop. The position is not flashy it’s a grind. Today Jackson stood out with his aggression at the break down, scrummaging and set piece work. This young man is developing into a great player.

Louis: Louis had a great half playing in the center a newish position for him. He played with intelligence making several good carries and gains. When he switched to 9 in the second half his distribution was on point and he marshalled the defence well.

This week was an excellent all round team performance we honestly could have selected any of the squad for man of the match. Which is an excellent problem to have.

HENRY B- Henry came to PLAY today. Fast, aggressive with some excellent trys. Henry is still very early into his rugby journey but goes from strength to strength each week. This shows in training and in games.

ISAAC H- A remarkable performance from our captain, demonstrating excellent situational awareness and athleticism making big runs try’s and conversions.
The opposition coaches could not understand how Isaac was not selected for the academy.

HAMISH- has come on leaps and bounds in the last few weeks and today demonstrated that improvement with tenacity in the tackle.

HAYDEN- played brilliantly today especially in the first half as 8 where his pressure was disruptive to the opposition in the set piece.

TOM C - was selected by his peers after a great performance. He played his heart out. Tom missed the last few minutes of the game due to a bad concussion so didn’t get to down the lemonade so he owes us.

BILLY B - had a great game again playing aggressive ball all over the park. Some of Billy’s hits could be heard across the field and will give Tamworth something to think about before they venture down the Sportsway again.

Isaac Harper: in a tough loss Issac was picked by his peers for his stand out performance. His kicking and carries were on point.

Isaac Burns: as coaches we selected isaac for his excellent communication, his work rate and aggression.

MEN OF THE MATCH - 09/11/25

HENRY B - great performance today, excellent attacking and defensive work. Henry was selected by the players this week who singled him out because of his greatly improved tackling and rucking.

ISAAC H - Excellent leadership and sets the level for intensity. Had some excellent carries coming into the back line from fullback and was in perfect position to return kicks with attacking carries.
