​Hatters FC are ONE STEP AWAY from the Men’s Mental Health Plate Cup Finals! 🏆

​The boys are back, the boots are laced, and we are out to win it all. But let’s be real—this isn’t going to be a walk in the park. We’re up against a seriously strong Thornton Community side, who finished above us in the tournament league.

​Is it a massive challenge? Absolutely.

Quarter Final Match Report

Hatters FC went into their quarter-final clash full of confidence following a commanding performance in their previous outing — but they knew Bamber MHFC would provide a much tougher test.

The game started as a tight and competitive affair, with both sides battling for control and chances proving limited. Just as it looked like the teams would head into the break level, Hatters found the breakthrough in dramatic fashion. Jordan Beard whipped a dangerous ball into the area and, arriving at the perfect moment, Matt Malonie slid in to finish and send Hatters into half-time with a deserved 1–0 lead.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Hatters aware that one goal wouldn’t be enough as Bamber pushed hard in search of an equaliser.

That crucial second goal arrived when Mark Jenkins reacted quickest inside the box and calmly slotted home from close range to make it 2–0.

Hatters weren’t finished there. Shortly afterwards, Carl Richardson added a third with a composed finish to put daylight between the sides and seemingly take control of the tie.

To their credit, Bamber refused to roll over and produced a moment of real quality to pull one back — a stunning strike from outside the box that flew beyond Danny Foster, who had no chance of keeping it out.

With Bamber showing signs of a comeback, Hatters pushed forward again to put the game beyond doubt. Danny Grady delivered the final blow, grabbing Hatters’ fourth goal and sealing an impressive 4–1 victory.

The result sends Hatters FC into the semi-finals in style and continues their excellent run of form.

A superb performance in the number 10 role. Craig was solid throughout and produced moments of real magic going forward, linking play brilliantly and helping drive Hatters to victory
