Ah, buonasera, my glorious runners of the dry land! O Sole Mio! What a magnificent sight tonight as six brave Trojans glided so gracefully through the winding streets of Burnham. We navigated every twist and turn of our concrete canals, pushing our legs across a fine bouquet of distances—from the epic 8km and 7km voyages to that silky, progressive 5km cruise around town.
The summer sun, she may not be singing in her full, blazing estate mode anymore, mamma mia, but the air still held a sweet, toasted warmth! Even that cheeky easterly breeze making an appearance every now and then could not cool our fiery spirits—it only pushed us forward like a fresh wind off the Venetian Lagoon!
A grand gondolier salute and a booming song of praise to Steve, Anna, Steff, Donna, and Emma! You all moved across the pavement like true champions tonight, oars dipping in perfect harmony. Bellissimo! Absolutely magnificent work from each and every one of you out there.
Now, lend your ears to your favorite captain: I must lay down my steering oar and step away for the next couple of weeks! But do not weep into the canal—we shall sing and stride together once more on 22 September 2026 for a glorious 5km run. Same meeting dock, same usual time, under the Burnham sky!
It would warm my heart like a hot plate of fresh pasta to see the Trojans keeping the waters churning while I am away. If you wish to keep the sacred Tuesday and Thursday evening runs alive, call out to one another across the piazza, gather the fleet, and go have yourselves a marvellous time!
And scusi, allow me one more passionate ballad for Burnham’s original Trojan Fitness bootcamp—remember, capisci, your very first session costs not a single lira! Absolutely free of charge!
Until we glide again, this is James—still the finest gondolier... ah, run group leader... in the entire world. Well... probably! Arrivederci!
