Our 2nd XI came up against a strong Lutterworth side on Saturday.

After losing the toss, we were asked to bowl first.
We struck twice early, through Tommy Dale and Harry Le Grice, to leave Lutterworth 5-2. A mid innings recovery, allowed Lutterworth to reach 86-4, before Jonny Larsen was introduced into the attack after drinks. He followed up last weeks 5-31, with figures of 5-26 to produce consecutive five wickets hauls and his 3rd of the season. He was supported at the other end by youngster Rory Ashton (2-34) before skipper Marc Harrison finished off the innings (1-5) as we bowled Lutterworth out for 127.

Our chase began steadily, reaching 11-0, before 3 quick wickets left us 11-3.

Harrison attempted to anchor the run chase, reaching 28, however no other batsman could get into double figures, as we were bowled out for 80.

We visit Twycross this week, hoping to return to winning ways.

Our first team got back to winnings ways with a last ball victory against Huncote.

After winning the toss and bowling first, huncote got off to a steady start before losing their first wicket for 27. A flurry of quick wickets left the hosts 51-6 at drinks. Openers Townsend and Stock with figures of 3-36 and 2-25. A strong middle order meant that we bowled Huncote out for 138.

We set about our reply quickly with opener M Balasooriya looking to set the tone from ball 1. He departed for 18 and left us 27-1. We lost another couple of wickets quickly and left us 57-3 just before drinks. A match winning partnership from Williams and Brazier meant we were in the driving seat at 117-4. Huncote fought back with some good bowling leaving us 135-7 needing 4 off the last over. Needing 1 to win off the last ball, returning Findley hit the winning run.

A credit to Huncote, who dug deep with only 10 men.

Our second XI travelled to table topping Blaby Village on Saturday and lost a tight game which was ultimately decided by rain.

Blaby won the toss and elected to bat. They quickly showed this was a brave yet strong call, racing to 115-0 off 19 overs. However, youngster Harry Le Grice was introduced into the attack and quickly halted the hosts momentum. He removed both openers in quick succession, as Blaby fell to 128-3. Harry finished with figures of 3-21 and Jonny Larsen contributed with 5-31 for his 2nd five wicket haul of the season.

After a delay of over an hour for rain, we were set a revised and unreasonable target of 151 from 26 overs. The chase began in the worst possible fashion, losing Jim Bostock to the first ball of the innings.

Dave Chesterton (19) and Manan Balasooriya (15) helped us recover, before skipper Marc Harrison (20) and Ryan Oakes (33*) put us in a confident position with 6 overs of the chase remaining, before rain struck again and no further play meant we eventually lost by 6 runs.

Our 2s return home this Saturday, welcoming Lutterworth 4s to Hinckley Road.

Our first team came up against a very strong Dunton Bassett side on Saturday. Losing the toss we were asked to bat on a day which seamed to suit the bowlers.

We never really got started losing an early wicket and another batsman retiring hurt.
Spirited knocks from A Barber (26) and J Payne (45) meant we posted 125.

Dunton Bassett saw off our opening bowlers who looked for a breakthrough. It was O Williams who broke the partnership with the score at 78-0. Williams finished with figures of 3-15 with the visitors winning by 7 wickets.

The 2s winning run came to an end on Saturday as Fleckney Village were the victors at Hinckley Road.

We won the toss and elected to bat first on what seemed a favourable day for batting. Dave Chesterton led the way with 37 and was supported by Jim Bostock (33) and Johnno Allsopp (27)

We always felt we were 40 runs short and this probably proved to be the case.

Tom Baldwin (2-13) and Jonny Larsen (1-32) were our wicket takers, as we lost by 6 wickets.

The 2s will be hoping to return to winning ways next Saturday, as they travel to table topping Blaby Village.

After losing the toss and being put into bat, we were 0-1 after 3 balls.

A Barber (61), Zia (41), Broadbent (35), Williams (25) meant that we got to a total of 238-8.

Blaby got off to a flying start before Stock got the breakthrough in the third over leaving the hosts 22-1. Regular wickets throughout the innings meant that Blaby could only manage 94.

Wickets were shared with Whittaker (3-30), Stock (3-50), Williams (2-2) and Townsend (2-8).

The 1s are back at home next week, where they take on table topping Dunton Bassett.

Our 1st XI came across a strong Ratby team. After winning the toss, skipper O Townsend decided to bat.

Overseas B Waters and Brazier fell early with the score at 34-2. A third wicket partnership of 119 (A Barber 61, J Payne 55) and a late Cameo from O Williams (28 off 22) meant that we got to 197-5.

Ratby openers got off to a solid start and it was N Khandaker (3-42) who got the break through just after the drinks break, leaving Ratby 108-1.
A couple more wickets throughout the innings meant that Ratby got to the total of 198-3 with two overs spare.
