An important message about Camas

With great sadness, the Trustees of the Iona Community have made the decision that Camas will not reopen. The resources needed in terms of staffing and finances to open Camas safely and sustainably, are beyond the scope of the Iona Community at this time.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who gave their time, money, wisdom and prayer to the effort to reopen Camas. The Camas Companions campaign revealed the depth of love for this place and its work.

‘It was a very formative time for me and it made me the person I am today.’

Maren shares of the impact staying and volunteering at Camas had on, and now through, her life.

Long may such transformative youth work continue through the Iona Community.

This is the first thing that folk arriving at Camas see…after they’ve walked down the track.

A row of houses, a gate, a lawn.

They have no idea what is in store for them.

And of the lasting impact this incredible place will have on their lives.

Become a Camas Companion today and help ensure this life changing work continues. Link in bio.

Would you like to hear the origin story of the Camas bell?

Are you interested in listening to a conversation between as many former Camas coordinators as we can spotlight on a Zoom call?

And perhaps you'd like to share your own song, story or poem about Camas?

Join online on the 1st July at 7pm BST for the Camas Companions storytelling ceilidh.

An opportunity for the Camas Companions to connect, share stories and our love of Camas, and our hopes for the future.

And give ourselves the motivation required for a final push towards the 31st July fundraising deadline.

Note, this event is exclusive to Camas Companions.
