📣 Club Announcement – Management Team & Backroom Staff 2026/27 Season
Buckie Rovers Football Club are delighted to announce the appointment of our management team and backroom staff for the 2026/27 season.
This group brings together a wealth of experience, fresh ideas, commitment, and passion for the game, both on and off the pitch.
⸻
👔 Manager
Darren Thain
Darren (Daz) continues in the Manager role, a man who knows the level well from his playing career previously with Buckie Rovers. His step up from Assistant Manager midway through the 2025 Welfare season saw him prove his worth while working under difficult circumstances during an injury- and unavailability-curtailed end to the campaign. Daz will now be looking to build and lead a squad who are committed and capable of competing at this level and to build for the years to come at Buckie Rovers Football Club.
⸻
🤝 Assistant Manager
Nikki Soutar
Nikki continues as Assistant Manager, bringing continuity and a real hunger to help the club succeed at this level. Having stepped up midway through last season, like Daz, he has shown he has a bright future in coaching. We look forward to seeing him continue to flourish in the role and provide the support Daz needs. Nikki is currently returning to match fitness with a spell at Welfare Club Fochabers after an ACL injury had him sidelined for 2 and a half years. He may look to support the playing side of things also if he continues to recover well.
⸻
⚽ Coach
John Coull
John continues his role as a coach at the club. His wealth of knowledge in the youth game, having previously coached in Elgin City's academy, will be invaluable as we look to recruit and develop young talent. We look forward to seeing John continue his hard work at training sessions and on matchdays.
⸻
⚽ Coach
Scott Riddoch
A new appointment to Daz’s coaching staff, Scott (Blade) is no stranger to the club, having served us in the welfare ranks for around a year and a half as backup goalkeeper. A former Highland League player along with numerous junior appearances, Scott also brings a wealth of coaching experience from spells at Rothes, Buckie Thistle and most latterly Islavale. Scott has recently gained his UEFA C License Coaching Badge and we are looking forward to seeing him implement his ideas as we edge closer to pre-season.
⸻
🧤 Player / Goalkeeping Coach
Glen Fraser
Another new appointment, Glen joins the coaching staff as Goalkeeping Coach. Our 2024 Committee Player of the Year, Glen’s performances over the past few years, and his career as a whole at junior and welfare level, have earned widespread praise across the local area. Now taking the next step of his football career into coaching, Glen is keen to pass on his experience and develop the goalkeepers of today. This is not a full retirement from playing, however, as Glen will remain signed and continue to be a big part of the club both on and off the pitch.
⸻
👕 Kit & Equipment Manager
Adam McCarten
Adam takes on the role of Kit & Equipment Manager for the upcoming season. Unfortunately, he is currently out of action from playing while awaiting an ACL operation. Despite this setback, Adam is excited to remain involved with the club and contribute in a new capacity, bringing his commitment and team-first attitude to this vital behind-the-scenes role.
⸻
The management team and staff will work closely and in conjunction with our Director of Football, Neil Mair, as we look to try build Buckie Rovers into a team capable of achieving great things in the North of Scotland Football League in the years to come.
The whole committee at the club are looking forward to working with and backing this dedicated group as we prepare for the next chapter in the club’s journey, we're very excited to see them get to work once pre season begins in mid June with plans well underway for it, the future is bright!
