The Devon & Cornwall Point to Point Area ranges from Trebudannon in Cornwall to Bratton Down on Exmoor with one fixture near Wellington in Somerset. We're the busiest Point to Point Area in the country with 24 race days planned in the 2022 - 2023 season, starting at Great Trethew near Liskeard in November and finishing with the sport's traditional national finale at Umberleigh on Saturday 10th Ju

Point to Points offer an exciting and fun day out, with the chance to get up close to the exciting race day action. "Paddock Spot" before each race and pick your fancy, - have a flutter with a bookmaker if you like - and cheer on "your" horse from the trackside viewing. There's real camaraderie amongst participants but it's competitive too! Riders are amateurs but standards are high and whilst some are in it purely for the thrill of race riding for others it's a stepping stone to a career as a professional jockey. Admission prices include parking, and there's always plenty of space for a "car boot picnic", children under 16 are admitted free and dogs are welcome but for everyone's safety it's important they are kept on leads at all times. As well as the racing, there's usually hot and old refreshments, a licensed bar and tradestands. Some meetings offer additional entertainment. We would like to assure everyone that the Spooners Pony Racing on Saturday 5th September is going ahead.

The Pony Racing Authority has raised an issue and we acknowledge the races will be run outside of their authority and they may not allow riders and ponies who run at our race day from running in official PRA races (such as at a Point to Point or at Exeter Racecourse) for a period of 12 months, but all other ponies and riders are entitled to run at our race day without any PRA restriction. We can also confirm that our event will be covered by our organisation’s insurance policy.

We had steady rain yesterday with more showers forecast next week but we will update with a going report before entries close and before race day.

For entry forms with conditions, please direct to Spooners organising committee at email [email protected] or enter through your pony club secretary or pony association. Entries close 6.00pm Saturday 29th August. We look forward to seeing ponies and their riders at this exciting race day – first race 2.00pm.
