Winchburgh Sport and Activity Club Encouraging children to be active, live a healthier life and promote physical activity

We are not registered with the Care Commission and we do not accept Childcare or working tax credit vouchers. The Winchburgh Sports and Activity club will provide a range of different activities giving children the opportunity to be active, e.g., football, badminton, athletics, to encourage an active lifestyle to be the norm later in life, children can socialise, build friendships, and let of stea

m after being at school. Please note we are not a registered care service, our aim is to provide activity sessions for children, with the aim to be active. We cannot accept childcare or working tax credit vouchers. This activity club has been created to give local children the means to a healthier lifestyle. Providing many different types of physical activity to try to find what each child enjoys, encouraging them to remain active throughout their life into adulthood. The age range is from 4 – 12 (Primary 1 – 7) on a Monday – Thursday from 15.45 – 17.45 in Sports Hall 1, Winchburgh Health and Wellbeing Hub, West Lothian Leisure. The children will be collected from Winchburgh and Holy Family Primary Schools and will walk along to the facility. The walk from Winchburgh Primary school to the premises will take approx. 30 minutes. Aim
To provide children with an opportunity to have an active environment, encourage a healthy lifestyle, learning skills such as resilience, teamwork, problem solving, responsibility and discipline to assist them into adulthood. Encouraging exercise to be the ‘norm’ for their future into adulthood, promoting children’s wellbeing, boosting self-esteem, and encouraging kindness and inclusion. Increase participation in physical activity by providing a range of activities,
2. Encourage Inclusion by providing support, children being part of team games, kindness, and positive experiences.
3. Provide equal opportunities for all children
4. Working with local sports clubs to encourage children to discover what they enjoy

⭐️ We’ve had some fantastic news today ⭐️

Edinburgh Airport have selected us to receive a grant to support our Junior Parkrun!

The funding will cover all of our setup costs, including a defibrillator, timing tokens, high-visibility jackets, and the necessary insurance.

🏃 🏃‍♀️ This means we’re now in a great position to launch the event at Auldcathie Park.

📣 🦺 We’re currently looking for volunteers to help make this happen.

The event will take place on Sundays at 9:30am, and the more volunteers we have, the more successful it will be — and the sooner we can confirm a start date!

Along with our usual activity sessions we have added in some Easter themed crafts, seed planting 🪴, biscuit making 🍪 and egg hunts out and about at Auldcathie Park.

Our egg hunt prizes were chicks, a small sweet, or a jigsaw piece, all hidden inside - the kids worked together to find the eggs and solve the puzzle 🧩

Our tuck shop charity vote took place this term and the £54.90 raised was donated to Dogs Trust. 💰 🐕 🐶

Thank you to everyone who contributed and the children that have run the shop this term.

We hope everyone has a nice break over the Easter holidays 🐣.

We held a vote among all club members to choose from five different charities, and we’re delighted to announce that the winner was CHAS.

Thank you to everyone who marshalled, cycled and all the motorists and pedestrians that waved us on, 🚲 🚌 outstanding effort with the reindeer antlers and costumes!! 👏
