Want a simple way to pick your goal?

This is now how I help my clients decide if they want to focus on losing fat or building muscle.

Sometimes, you can focus on both simultaneously, but it's unlikely unless you’re a complete beginner your body fat % is optimal.

But most people who don't fall into that category would find this super helpful.

So ask yourself, are you looking to bulk or cut over the next few months?

This is the routine for dads who typically works a 9-5 job. Training first thing in the morning is a great strategy to ensure you stay consistent.

Otherwise, it can be tricky, given that when your shift finishes you are most likely going to feel too tired to work out and you may want to just go home and relax with your family. 🏋🏼‍♂️

When having such long shifts, it means you either have to sacrifice some family time at home or sacrifice your workout, therefore I recommend training 3x per week following either a full-body, upper/lower or push/pull/legs split. 📈

Take a prepped meal into work with you to eat on your lunch break, along with some healthy snacks that include protein in each meal. ✅

🤹‍♀️🤹🤹‍♂️ Juggling work and family life all while looking after your health can be difficult.

Being a dad is one of the best privileges a man can have.

But if you’re not careful, you can let your health slip at the cost of looking after your kids.

🤯 To stop you from melting your brain here are 5 tips to help you:

1️⃣ Create Habits ⏰

Be sure to factor in time for yourself that you are going to train. Consider them non-negotiable times. It’ll then become a habit regardless of what’s going on that you look after yourself.

2️⃣ Eat Well 🍜

It can be surprisingly tricky to eat healthy whilst being a parent, and yet we advocate them eating healthily.

Aim for a good amount of protein and vegetables at most meals and focus on the right portion sizes.

You can still eat treats and desserts, but it’s all about having a healthy balanced, calorie managed diet to ensure you’re taking your health seriously.

3️⃣ Love Your Body Love Your Brain ❤️

For me, the gym is my therapy. It helps me mentally and physically to look after myself.

If you choose a different format of training or exercising, be sure to prioritise it as your time.

You cannot serve others from an empty vessel.

4️⃣ Forget Everyone Else 🧘‍♂️

This isn’t to be rude, but as a Dad, you’re heard for you to make sure that when your kids grow up, you’re fit, healthy and active for many years to come.

5️⃣ Enjoy It 😊

Training shouldn’t be torture, it should be fun. Enjoying the feeling of progressing in your training will help you stick to training long term. Do what makes you happy.

Controversial Opinion 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾

🤷🏽‍♂️ You may find it difficult to start with, but taking care of yourself first is the best thing that you can do for others.

🥴 Whether you become a dad for the first time or you’ve been gone for a while now, there’s no denying that it’s an ongoing challenge to nail down a solid fitness routine that blends into your everyday life.

Following these 3 tips will help…

1️⃣ Focus on consistency rather than intensity 🏋🏾‍♀️

You want to ensure you have a routine that you can train well, over and over again, as opposed to blowing it all out in one or two goes per week.

Typical 3-4 x per week of strength training is great, but you don’t want to be training at an intensity that wipes you out of your everyday tasks. So stay clear of training to failure too often, focus on progressive overload at a moderate intensity.

2️⃣ Stick to a low maintenance, healthy diet 🥗

Making sure you have your meals prepped in advance is a great hack.

Ensuring you’re eating lots of single-ingredient foods with adequate amounts of protein per day is going to ensure you stay on track.

3️⃣ Remember: healthy dad is a good dad 🧘‍♂️

Yes, that includes your mental health too. Be sure to manage your stress levels, express gratitude daily, identify times to rest and sleep.

Along with that, is to get daylight exposure often and to positively connect with other people as well as your own family.

👨🏽‍🍼Whether you’re a new father looking after your first child or you’re a little more experienced with a few already running around, it’s always going to be important for dads to address their mental health.

If you can maintain a good healthy routine, then this is the first step in developing stronger mental well-being and thus help you become a more productive and empathetic dad & partner.

🗣 Talking to other dads

This can allow you to expand your knowledge or experiences with one another.

You can also build a connection with others which’ll be a huge boost to your mental health.

🏌️‍♂️Find an active hobby

Listen up, it’s not selfish to have time to set aside for yourself.

You need to fill that time with an active hobby that taps into who you are.

A hobby will build motivation, energy and can act as a stress relief for you to unwind.

👨‍👩‍👦 Maintain partner communication

While you and your partner both need space and support groups of your own, it’s super important that you continue to connect as a couple.

🦸‍♂️ Setting your own pace

Being a dad is both a blessing and a challenge, and it can go in many different directions. To get the most out of your time with your child, it’s important to keep yourself healthy both physically and mentally.

Seek therapy, lift weights, eat well.

This will help you remain open and honest about your emotions and reduce your stress and health conditions.

The sooner you start taking action on these habits, the sooner you'll be living a happier, healthier and wealthier life with your children and partner.
