I’m not saying men don’t have emotions, hormones, chemicals, fluctuations or their own rhythms. Of course they do.
But generally speaking, men can often show up more consistently across a month than women can when you factor in the hormonal fluctuations of the menstrual cycle.
And I’m done pretending I can - or should - operate at the same capacity for four weeks.
I’m good for three. 😂🤪
Today, I’m on day 21 of my cycle. I’m in my luteal phase. I’m here. I’m working. I’m recording this. But I feel sluggish. Cognitively questionable 🤪🤣
Tomorrow? I could be so floored I can barely get out of bed, never mind drive somewhere.
And that’s the point.
Every cycle is different. Every month is different. Our energy, hormones, stress levels, sleep, life circumstances and capacity all change.
So I’m experimenting with building my business around my actual capacity rather than constantly overriding it.
Some days are for creating.
Some are for thinking.
Some are for deep work.
Some are for integration.
Some are for admin.
Some are for rest.
And sometimes the most productive thing I can do is absolutely f**k all.
Rest is productive.
Being is productive.
I’m still unlearning decades of conditioning that says:
“Push harder.”
“Be consistent.”
“You haven’t hit the goal yet.”
“Keep going.”
“Don’t stop.”
But what if consistency doesn’t have to mean producing the same amount every single day?
What if consistency means continuing to honour yourself through changing capacity?
I think we need a much bigger conversation about this.
Not just women’s cycles.
Human rhythms. Natural rhythms.
Conscious living.
Because we are organic beings living inside systems that often expect us to behave like machines.
And frankly… I’m not interested in being a machine anymore.
I’m happy to own that I am a human, a woman and I have certain limits.
