For Pride month 🏳️‍🌈 we are using oūr platform to share the voices of the LGBTGIA+ community 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

We are a strong ally, now + forever 💪

We will not tolerate any hate on oūr platform.

We have set up a fundraiser for the please give what ū can 🙏

Today we hear from and we thank you Ruby for sharing yoūr voice with ūs:

I was very lucky growing up. I had two very loving, le***an mamas who were there for me through thick and thin. I had a wonderful brother, and I grew up knowing it was okay to be different in my LGBTQIA family. I am now able to be an out and proud bisexual woman, but it hasn't always been that way.

Unfortunately, there is still a huge prevalence of biphobia, even within the LGBTQIA community. Even by those who would say that they would never be homophobic!

Being bi is a constant struggle of asking yourself if you're bi enough, if you're straight enough, if you'll be accepted, do people even believe you are a part of the community.

There are many ill judged jokes about being greedy, not existing, having passing privilege that may seem harmless, but may have your peer up at night struggling to feel accepted and filled with anxiety about their identity.

This pride month ask yourself, have you talked to your LGBTQIA friends and family about how they are feeling? If not, just ask! This month is more than buying something with a rainbow on it. Support LGBTQIA charities, businesses and friends and be the best ally you can be!!

I love me now! But it is a journey. Spread the love so everyone can feel accepted 😘

Unsure what to wear with this weather? Nah us neither 🤷
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But how good is it to see everything growing so lushly! 🌷🌿🌱
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What would be even better is there to be less blooming rubbish popping up this Spring!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Bits ū can do - stay away from yucky single use plastics; buy once, buy well; shop independent brands; litter pick; write to your local MP ✍️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And if you’ve seen the news today you’ll know that it is just 20 companies that are the source of more than half of all single-use plastic items thrown away globally!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To top this off, reported that about 40% - or 210,000 tonnes - of the UK's plastic waste exports were sent to Turkey last year. Then it is illegally dumped and burnt.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Whilst recycling isn’t the answer (eliminating single use plastic from the source is) it is a total missed opportunity to not take this waste and generate renewable energy ⚡️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

👩‍🎨 - our designs are timeless + use basic colours promoting a slow fashion model

Mental Health Awareness Week 2021 🌱

Nature 🌿

1 in 4 of us have been affected by a mental health problem 🍂

The biggest piece of advice we can give is to talk: there is always someone there to listen.

Does it stop us swimming? Nah course not. But it does make our dips a bit shorter.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Be careful cold water swimming - as a good measure, for every degree the water is take that as the safe amount of time you should be in the water for; eg 11 degree water = 11 minutes dip time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stay safe with a bright float + try not to swim alone.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Be smart like Ruby; bring layers + a big juicy coat to wrap up warm in. The faster you get changed the better.

A flask of tea/coffee is also recommended - pour into a reusable cup so your hands can benefit from the warmth of the cup.

Sustainable vs responsible

Sustainability is a legitimate term; to not take more from nature than we can give back. Unfortunately we do indeed take more than we can give back, and we do cause more harm to nature than we do to nurturing it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our population here on planet Earth houses seven billion human beings, and everything we make does some damage.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Until we can figure out a process that does not interfere with nature’s capacity to regenerate itself we have no right applying the word sustainable to our business.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Responsibility equates to business transparency. Making a positive difference to do less harm, and by using fewer materials, less energy and water, will generate less waste.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Like many brands we outsource our manufacturing and we do not own a factory, but we make sure this is known, and ethically done so. We design products for longevity, using regenerated materials that do not take away from our planet. We pay our workers a good wage and we use shipping methods that have lower impacts than ‘next-day’ deliveries. We use packaging that has been recycled. And importantly, we give back.

We are in a climate emergency. We need to restore our planet to its full health. We need to make changes; big and small. And we need to do this now.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We at Sūndar are part of the consumer industry, so we cannot claim to be sustainable. We are on a path promoting sustainability and we are responsible for our business.
