If you struggle with constant worries or anxiety, it may feel impossible to relax. But did you know? Relaxing is something we can practise. It’s that simple: we have to teach our mind and body that it’s safe to rest. It’s okay to be unproductive. It’s okay to take time out. It’s okay to live your life differently to others around you. What you can do to support yourself better is explore where you find peace. For some it’s the forest, others need to be by water or mountains. Not always easy to access… yet essential to get away from concrete, tarmac, bricks and glass for a while. Bringing beautiful flowers into my therapy space helps me! What about you?

A very special reader sent me this pic for our book tour… Untold and Retold has made its way all the way to Auckland! Beautiful scenery and a celebratory fizz, no less. What little wins might you achieve this week? And how are you going to celebrate them? The more we focus on the good stuff, the more thankful we are, and the more wins roll in. Of course there will be down days and tired days and quieter days, however, bouncing back from them or approaching them with positive belief, “it can get better” is a skill we can all learn. At the wonderful weekend, I took part in a brilliant workshop examining how conflict and tension between the characters captivates readers… the most compelling storylines follow the main character step by step into their hardest moments and through it to the light. If you need more confidence and the tools to build your author brand, Isabelle’s course is one I’d highly recommend… Next course starts tomorrow and I believe it’s full - perhaps get on her list for the next one???
