🎉 I’ve reached over 1,000 followers on Instagram! 🎉

Thank you for every like, comment, share, recommendation, and word of encouragement. It really does mean a lot. 🫶🏼

I know 1,000 followers might not sound like a huge number to some, but to me it means 1,000 people who have chosen to support my page and follow my journey.

Here’s to helping more people become stronger, healthier, and more confident! 💪❤️

STRONG THROUGH MENOPAUSE 💪

Before the age of 40, I was diagnosed with Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (POI).

POI causes irregular or absent periods, a reduction in oestrogen and progesterone. These hormones are essential for menstrual cycles, fertility, bone health, heart health and overall wellbeing.

While the natural age of natural menopause is between 45-55, with the average in the UK being 51, POI can affect women much earlier, before the age of 40.

Being diagnosed with POI has taught me the importance of looking after my health and focusing on what I can control.

The things that have helped me most are:

✔️ Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) to help protect bone health (this is not suitable for everyone - it might be ineffective or inappropriate.
✔️ Getting enough calcium and vitamin D (supplement of 400 IU)
✔️ Eating sufficient protein (around 100g per day)
✔️ Including omega-3 fats (oily fish and nuts) and plenty of fibre (30g per day)
✔️ Regular weight-bearing and resistance exercise
✔️ Limiting alcohol, which can accelerate bone loss

Strength training has become one of the most empowering things I do. It helps me feel strong, capable and confident in my body.

If you’ve been diagnosed with POI, know that you’re not alone.

🏃‍♀️ Challenge Accepted! 🏃‍♀️

I’ve officially signed up for a 50km trail run along the South West Coast Path! 🌊⛰️

Over the coming months I’ll be training hard to prepare for what will be a physical and mental challenge. Every hill, mile, and blister will be worth it because I’m doing it to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

I completed two of these challenges last year with Alice, so I know just how tough they can be, but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Macmillan has also supported members of my family, and the emotional support they provided to me during difficult times meant a great deal. That’s why this cause is so close to my heart.

Macmillan provides incredible support to people living with cancer and their families when they need it most, and I’d love to do my small part to help them continue their amazing work.

If you’re able to support me, no matter how big or small the donation, I would be incredibly grateful. Every pound makes a difference.

Thank you for your support and encouragement – I’ll be sharing plenty of training updates along the way.
