Achieve your aim, train with Jermayne I don’t think there’s a better way of encapsulating what a career in fitness means to me. Fitness isn’t just a way of life – it is my life. Even while I was studying Graphic Design at uni I worked as a lifeguard and fitness instructor in my spare time. An injury that resulted in a bionic hip

put paid to pretty serious dreams of a career in professional footballer, but I didn’t let it stop my fitness journey. Martial arts renewed my relationship with my body and I excelled in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Capoeira, and Judo, as well as boxing. For me it’s not just about the physical discipline and form, it’s also the mental wellness that comes from training. It’s something that I instil in everyone that I train, the balance between mental and physical disciplines, because by training both you don’t just get the best results, you get long lasting, consistent results, which I believe is the ultimate aim of any PT. Consistency is key and that really comes down to mindset, so I focus on that just as much as I do on the right form, the best exercises, and nutritional education. Combine all that and you get the kind of results my clients get one after the other. If you want to work with me at Bodytone Personal Training then I’m always down to chat through your goals and needs. We have three different services:

Monthly Workout Plans – for when you don’t want 121 personal training but you do want a helping hand and some routine

Accountability Coaching – get an exercise routine, nutritional advice, and me keeping you accountable through our bespoke training app. Workout in your own time but have my support 24/7

Personal Training – 121 or group PT sessions at a training studio in Hove, or in the comfort of your home. Whatever you need, I’ve got you. Future goals for me? The next step will be to get my own Bodytone Personal Training studio space. It’s something I’m actively working towards, bit by bit, making my way towards the next business finish line. It’s the same consistent dedication I teach my clients – you’ve got to practice what you preach! Oh, and fun fact? Adele was at my 7th birthday party. Her mum was good friends with my auntie and apparently she used to fancy me when I was younger. Who knows, maybe there’s even a song on an album dedicated to me somewhere ;)

Most Fridays you’ll find me doing a bit of sparring with a group of lads around my age.

I’ve been in and out of boxing gyms since I was a teenager, but earlier this year I finally ticked something off my bucket list and had my first boxing fight. It’s something I’m proud to have done.

Will I fight again? Never say never.
Right now, I enjoy keeping the sword sharp and staying connected to a sport I’ve always loved. Boxing probably isn’t something you want to do forever, especially when punches are involved, but there’s something about it that keeps drawing me back.

For me, it’s all part of living an active lifestyle. Whether it’s boxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, golf, running or strength training, I enjoy having goals and challenging myself in different ways.

I’ve even thought about combining my boxing and Jiu Jitsu skills and training for an MMA fight one day. But for now, my main focus is growing my online coaching business and helping more driven people improve their health, fitness and confidence.

When I was younger, training was mainly about how I looked. These days, whilst I still like to stay in shape, it’s much more about how training makes me feel.

For me, training is a chance to switch off from everything else and spend some time investing in myself. As a dad and a business owner, it’s easy to put other people first and let your own needs slip down the priority list.

Training helps me stay physically and mentally strong, manage stress and maintain balance.

It’s also an investment in my future. I want to stay healthy, active and capable for as long as possible, and most importantly, be there for my daughter and set a positive example through my actions, not just my words.

One reason people quit too early is because they’re looking for visible changes every week.
Fat loss, muscle gain and fitness improvements don’t happen overnight.
Sometimes the first signs of progress are having more energy, sleeping better, feeling stronger or noticing your clothes fit differently.
Not every win shows up in the mirror.

I originally became a personal trainer because I loved sport.

Training, boxing, jiu jitsu, running and pushing myself physically have always been a big part of my life.

Earlier this year, after achieving some personal fitness goals, I took a step back and asked myself what I wanted to focus on next.

The answer was simple.

Growing my online coaching business.

I’ll still train, stay active and enjoy the activities I love, but my main focus between now and the end of the year is building the business.

If I’m honest, I don’t think I’ve ever been completely all in before.

I’ve always loved what I do, but I’ve often spread my energy across too many different things.

That changes now.

I’ve realised that when I commit fully to something, that’s when I get my best results.

So that’s the mission.

Build the business.
Help more people.
See how far I can take it.

A client asked me this week how much protein they should be eating.

My answer?

Probably more than you’re eating right now.

One of the biggest nutrition mistakes I see is people not getting enough protein throughout the day.

Protein helps you build and maintain muscle, recover from training and stay fuller for longer.

As a rough guide, I recommend around 1.6 to 2.2 grams per kilogram of bodyweight.

So if you weigh 80kg, that’s roughly 130 to 175g per day.

You don’t need to be perfect, but making protein a priority at each meal is one of the simplest ways to improve your results.

Send me a message if you’d like help working out your protein target.

If I wanted to lose 5-10kg and had little to no equipment, this is the type of workout I’d be doing.

Most people don’t need a gym full of equipment to get started.

A few bodyweight exercises and a couple of water bottles can be more than enough.

I’d aim for 3 sets of 10-15 reps on each exercise and complete a workout like this 2-3 times per week.

The goal isn’t to make things complicated.

The goal is to be consistent.

Once the exercises start feeling easy, that’s when I’d invest in a pair of dumbbells and continue progressing from there.

This is the exact type of approach I often give clients when they’re travelling or don’t have access to a gym.

WHY ACCOUNTABILITY WORKS!

Most people already know what they should be doing.

They know they should be exercising.

They know they should be eating more protein.

They know they should be drinking more water.

They know they should be drinking less alcohol.

The problem usually isn’t a lack of knowledge.
The problem is consistency.

I’ve worked with successful business owners, professionals and parents who are highly disciplined in other areas of their lives, yet still struggle to stay consistent with their fitness.

Not because they’re lazy.

Because life gets busy.

Work deadlines come up.

Stress levels increase.

Family commitments take over.

And fitness often gets pushed aside.

That’s where accountability comes in.

Not someone telling you off.

Not someone judging you.

Just someone in your corner.

Someone checking in.

Someone helping you stay focused.

Someone helping you get back on track before one bad week becomes one bad month.

Because motivation comes and goes.

Nobody feels motivated all the time.

The people who get results aren’t always the most motivated.

They’re the ones who stay consistent.

I’ve seen people make more progress in six months with accountability than they did in years trying to do it alone.

Not because they found a magic workout or diet.

Because they had structure, support and someone helping them stay focused when life got in the way.

Most information is free online.

What you’re really investing in is implementation.

And for many people, that’s the difference between talking about their goals and actually achieving them.

Achieve your aim, train with Jermayne.
