🏃♀️💗 WHAT A WEEKEND FOR EMPOWERHER!!!
Honestly, THIS is what I wanted when I started this group.
Not just one organised run a week. Not just everyone turning up, doing 5K and going home.
I wanted women to meet other women, make friends, arrange their own runs, support each other with their goals, enter races and have people around them who actually want to come along for the journey.
And this weekend has been a pretty bloody good example of that 👇🏼💗
SATURDAY — Ruth, Jodie & Jill 🏃♀️
These three were already out getting their miles in together yesterday.
Then apparently one run over the weekend wasn’t enough because Jill was back at it again today 😂
SUNDAY — Laura Smart & Jill Bardsley 🏃♀️
Laura is currently training for her 10 miler in October and had a longer run to get done this morning. So Jill joined her.
14.75km DONE!! 👏🏼
Literally as simple as someone having miles to do and another woman going, “yeah, I’ll come with you.”
Meanwhile… Jodie was casually completing the GREAT NORTH RUN 🏅
Jodie is already a cracking runner and regularly smashes out the miles, but today sounded like a tough one.
Hot from the get go, hillier than expected and plenty of hose pipes and run-through showers needed along the way 💦 It wasn’t quite the time she wanted, but she got herself round 13.1 miles, got the medal and still said she’d recommend it — although apparently it makes for a VERY long day 😂 Absolutely smashed it Jodie 👏🏼💗
And then me & Emma Cussen headed for the moors ⛰️🏃♀️
7.73 miles | 957ft elevation | 1hr 50
Nearly 1,000ft of climbing, plenty of time on the legs and some absolutely unreal views 😍
Myself and Emma are now T-minus 5 weeks until the Yorkshire Marathon 😳 and there mayyyyy also be a 50km trail ultra in January 2027 on the cards 👀😂
Otis🐾 also joined us for the adventure today and smashed the whole thing with me.
So across ONE weekend we’ve had Ruth, Jodie, Jill, Laura, Emma and me all out running.
Some training for races. Some racing. Some getting their long runs done. Some joining their mates so they don’t have to do it alone.
And THAT is what I love about EmpowerHER. It’s become so much more than the Sunday 5K.
Women who didn’t necessarily know each other before are now messaging each other, arranging runs, entering races, pushing themselves further and genuinely becoming friends through it.
This is exactly what I wanted this community to become. 💗 Bloody proud of you all. What a weekend for EmpowerHER 🏃♀️💗
