A fantastic day of football for the Kingsdown Knights U8s at their 1st Summer Tournament!

The team showed incredible determination, teamwork, and enthusiasm throughout the day, playing with great energy in every match. Players stepped up in different positions, supported one another brilliantly, and never stopped working hard from the first whistle to the last.

There were some excellent defensive displays, confident goalkeeping, and plenty of attacking football on show. Most importantly, the squad demonstrated fantastic sportsmanship and represented the club with pride both on and off the pitch.

It was great to see the players enjoying themselves, growing in confidence, and putting into practice everything they've been working on in training.

A huge well done to all the players, and thank you to the parents, coaches, and supporters for their encouragement throughout the day. 💙⚽️

🏆⚽ WHAT A DAY FOR KINGSDOWN KNIGHTS U8s! ⚽🏆

An amazing day in Minehead for our Kingsdown Knights U8s, who showed fantastic teamwork, determination and effort throughout the cup competition. Every player gave absolutely everything and played with great energy, confidence and sportsmanship from start to finish.

The semi-final performance earned the team a place in the final, where the Knights produced another brilliant display full of hard work, resilience and teamwork to become cup winners!

👏 Huge well done to Milo, Jayden, Jude, Mariel, Teodor and Nicholas for representing the team today so brilliantly.

A proud day for the whole squad, coaches and parents — well done Knights! 💙⚽🏆

Excitement Builds for HO Soccer TDYFL Mini’s Final Day at Minehead AFC

The finest young talent in local grassroots football will take centre stage tomorrow, Saturday 23rd May, as Minehead AFC hosts the highly anticipated HO Soccer Taunton and District Youth Football League (TDYFL) Mini’s Final Day.

Featuring the Under 7, Under 8, Under 9, and Under 10 age groups, the action-packed day will see teams compete across Cup, Plate, and Bowl tiers. The tournament structure guarantees plenty of football and high stakes for every squad involved; the winners of the scheduled semi-final matches will progress directly to the finals to play for the main trophies, whilst the runners-up will move into the 3rd place play-offs.

To celebrate the incredible achievements and hard work of everyone involved, both the morning and afternoon sessions will culminate in a formal presentation ceremony, where trophies or medals will be awarded to all participating players.

Morning Session: Under 7s & Under 9s (Kick-off from 9:30 AM)
The morning session brings a fantastic festival atmosphere to open the day, with the Under 7 and Under 9 age groups taking over Pitches 1 through 6.

Under 7 Fixtures
In the U7 Cup on Pitch 3, the matches begin at 09:30 AM with U7 Huish Tigers FC Oranges taking on U7 Tone Youth FC Wasps. This will be followed at 09:55 AM by U7 Bridgwater VPR FC Hawks against U7 Wellington FC Jaguars.

The U7 Plate on Pitch 2 starts at 09:30 AM, featuring home side U7 Minehead AFC Pirates playing U7 Wembdon FC Saints. The second semi-final kicks off at 09:55 AM with U7 Galmington Dragons FC Hawks matching up against U7 Middlezoy Rovers FC Hurricanes.
For the U7 Bowl on Pitch 1, U7 Tone Youth FC Hornets compete against U7 Bishops Lydeard FC Panthers at 09:30 AM. Following that at 09:55 AM, U7 Ruishton FC Rooks will face U7 Staplegrove FC Saints.

Under 9 Fixtures
In the U9 Cup on Pitch 6, the action gets underway at 09:30 AM with U9 Tone Youth FC Hornets taking on U9 Ruishton FC Rooks. This will be followed at 10:15 AM by U9 Wembdon FC Dragons going head-to-head with U9 Staplegrove FC Sinners.

Over on Pitch 5 for the U9 Plate, U9 Huish Tigers FC Blacks face U9 Kingsdown FC Knights at 09:30 AM. Following that, U9 Galmington Dragons FC Hawks will play U9 Wembdon FC Saints at 10:15 AM.
The U9 Bowl takes place on Pitch 4, starting at 09:30 AM with U9 Bishops Lydeard FC Panthers playing U9 Isle of Wedmore FC Herons. The second semi-final kicks off at 10:15 AM between U9 Ruishton FC Rams and U9 Bridgwater VPR FC Eagles.

Afternoon Session: Under 8s & Under 10s (Kick-off from 2:00 PM)
The afternoon sees a massive expansion of the festival atmosphere as both the Under 8s and Under 10s take to the fields concurrently. Notably, hosts Minehead AFC will enjoy home-turf backing in the U10 Plate semi-final.

Under 8 Fixtures
In the U8 Cup on Pitch 3, U8 Galmington Dragons FC Hawks play U8 Wellington FC Tigers at 14:00, before U8 Middlezoy Rovers FC Hurricanes face U8 Staplegrove FC Saints at 14:35.

The U8 Plate on Pitch 2 begins at 14:00 with U8 Tone Youth FC Wasps against U8 Bridgwater VPR FC Hawks, followed by U8 Tone Youth FC Hornets taking on U8 Middlezoy Rovers FC Tornados at 14:35.

For the U8 Bowl on Pitch 1, U8 Kingsdown FC Knights compete against U8 Huish Tigers FC Oranges at 14:00, with U8 North Curry FC playing U8 Huish Tigers FC Blacks at 14:35.

Under 10 Fixtures
The U10 Cup on Pitch 6 kicks off at 14:00 with U10 Galmington Dragons FC Hawks matching up against U10 North Curry Herons. At 14:45, U10 Kingsdown FC Knights Storm will play U10 Huish Tigers FC Blacks.

In the U10 Plate on Pitch 5, home side U10 Minehead AFC Pirates take on U10 Ashcott FC Thunder at 14:00. This is followed at 14:45 by U10 Isle of Wedmore FC Wanderers against U10 Bridgwater VPR FC Hawks.

The U10 Bowl on Pitch 4 sees U10 Staplegrove FC Sharks play U10 Spaxton FC at 14:00, before U10 Tone Youth FC Wasps face U10 Wembdon FC Saints at 14:45.

Event Information & Support
Spectators are encouraged to arrive early to secure parking and support the players. Refreshments will be available throughout the day at the ground. The league extends its thanks to Minehead AFC for providing their excellent facilities to host what promises to be a memorable celebration of grassroots youth football in Somerset.

This weekend promises to be a huge occasion as both our U8s and U9s head to The Recreation Ground in Minehead for their respective Cup Round Finals, ready to represent the club with pride, passion, and determination.

The action begins at 0930 with our Under 9s, who face a big day as they compete in both the Semi-Final and Final while battling for the Plate trophy. After a fantastic season full of hard work and development, the squad now has the chance to finish on a high and bring home silverware. The players have shown great teamwork and resilience throughout the campaign, and they’ll be looking to carry that momentum into the finals stage.

Attention will then turn to our Under 8s at 1400 as they compete for the Bowl trophy. The young squad have been brilliant all season, improving week after week and showing incredible enthusiasm every time they step onto the pitch. With the finals now in sight, they’ll be aiming to put in one more big performance and enjoy the experience of playing on such a special occasion.

Cup finals are always memorable days for players, coaches, and families alike, and everyone at the club is incredibly proud of what both teams have achieved to reach this stage.

The Kingsdown Knights U9s hosted their final fixture of the season at home

There was a brilliant display of effort, teamwork, and determination from the team today in two very competitive matches. Every player showed fantastic attitude, worked hard for one another, and never stopped battling from the first whistle to the last. 👏

The opening match was a real test, with the opposition applying plenty of pressure throughout. The team stayed organised, defended with courage, and showed great resilience in difficult moments. There were also some excellent passages of play going forward, with players showing confidence on the ball and supporting each other well.

The second game started brightly, with the team playing positively and creating some exciting moments. Their energy, movement, and teamwork were impressive, and they continued to fight for every ball right until the end. The determination and spirit shown by every player was outstanding.

A huge well done to the entire squad for representing the club so proudly. The progress, teamwork, and effort on display made the coaches and supporters extremely proud. Keep working hard and enjoying your football! ⚽️💙
