Magpies are a Mixed Touch Rugby team, who will be taking part in competitions and friendly matches though the summer, fun and fitness being the main focus, with like minded people, we are looking for interest now, in preparation for the upcoming season.

Our magpie ladies were back in action tonight on their first away match against hillbetties in resolven on a wet summer night
The magpies started well defending brilliantly and working well together in defence and making it though their sets with Liliana creating a lovely solo try making 3-1 to the hosts after the first quarter
The hillbetties showed their experience in the 2nd and 3rd quarter by going to the edges to score but the defence held strong in the middle and the magpies never gave up
The fourth quarter the magpies seemed to have a second wind and were amazing to hold out the hillbetties for most of the quarter working hard for each and playing with passion
It’s been amazing to watch the magpies ladies team getting stronger and more confident as the season goes on and using the things they learnt from training what a pleasure

Congratulations to the hillbetties on their win and thank you for the hospitality

Magpies flying high tonight in the fit league tonight
The magpies took on the spitfires tonight in the bowl final and with it taking a bit of back and forth the spitfires took the lead but with some good attacking play the magpies got up to the line and with a good dive Billy was over to make it 1-1 a tight game at half team
Second half started well with Oz scoring a well worked try to take the lead and spitfires came back, with the magpies not backing down Ken set up david (cheesy) to score in the corner for the lead again but same as spitfires came back but Oz scoring a lovely try in the middle
Full time 4-4
Extra time both teams went to 4 a side for 4 mins with no score then dropped to 3 a side for the last 4 min with Alex getting over the try line and celebrating with Oz jumping about before realising they haven’t put the ball down for no try but Oz and Alex made it up by finishing the try this time

Final score 5-4 to the magpies bowl winners

The male magpies played Maesteg Celtic crusaders last night at home with both team having just a few, the magpies started strong by scoring 3 try’s to 1 in the first quarter but then let the crusaders back in, the game was close all the way through to the end and some amazing skills on show but the magpies kept hold of the lead to win 12-11

This week our lady magpies played the saxonettes at home the saxonettes started quick with a couple of well worked try’s, as the game went on the magpies got going though the touch’s and completing their sets which was brilliant to see
The last quarter we mixed the teams and had 3 of each on both sides it just shows what rugby is all about

Congratulations to the saxonettes for their win and thank you from everyone because of the help and encouragement you all were given to the magpies during the game amazing team spirit

Lady of the match voted by the saxonettes for us was Rachel for her non stop work rate and she never stopped smiling
