One year of Moving for Me.

This time last year I was starting something of my own, having made the decision to step away from the security of employed work and see whether I could actually make this thing work.

A year later, I'm really proud that I did.

It hasn't all been straightforward. I've had to learn how to be a coach, programmer, administrator, content creator, accountant, decision maker and business owner, often all before lunch.

I've had ideas I've been ridiculously excited about and then realised I simply don't have the capacity to do them all. I've learned that having your own business doesn't automatically give you more time. You have to get much better at protecting it.

But the biggest thing I'll take from this year is the people.

To every Mover who's trusted me with their training, turned up before a long day, celebrated a PB with me, shared the difficult bits, or simply kept going when life made consistency difficult, thank you.

You've shaped the way I coach more than you probably realise. You've challenged me, inspired me and, sometimes without knowing it, helped me find new directions too.

In fact, Court Ready started with a conversation with a Mover on the gym floor while we were chatting about the wonderful game of netball. I'm incredibly grateful that Moving for Me created the space for that little spark to happen.

And to everyone who's turned up to one of my classes and brought the energy with them, thank you too.

A year in, Moving for Me is still growing and evolving, and so am I.

I don't have everything figured out, but I'm clearer about the coach I want to be, the people I want to help and the kind of business I want to build.

And I'm incredibly proud of what this little business has become in its first year.

Netball trials this week? The work is already done.
The final few days aren't the time to panic about your fitness, squeeze in extra sessions or try to suddenly become a different player.

Trust the work you've put in through pre-season and focus on arriving fresh, fuelled and ready to perform. Then when you step onto court, remember that selectors are seeing more than your best pass, shot or intercept.

They're seeing how you compete.
How you communicate.
How you respond to feedback.
How you react when you make a mistake.
How you work when you don't have the ball.
And how you contribute to the players around you.

And if the nerves creep in? Open your Confidence Evidence Bank.
Think about the sessions you've completed, the improvements you've made and the difficult moments you've already worked through.

You've done the work.
You've got the evidence.
Now show them the athlete you are.

Grab a pair of dumbbells and give this one a go

5 full-body movements combining strength, power, stability and core control

DB Halo Get-Ups
DB Jump Squats
DB Plank Drags
DB Pullover to Glute Bridge
DB Overhead Stationary Marches

Complete 2–3 rounds, choosing a weight that challenges you while still allowing you to move with qualiy.

For the jump squats, keep the reps lower and explosive, remeber we want quality over fatigue.

Every athlete wants to arrive at pre-season stronger, quicker and more confident than they finished the last one.

The difference isn't made in one big session a week before court training resumes. It's built through the small decisions you make throughout the off-season.

This workout is designed to help you develop the athletic qualities every netballer needs:

Power
Balance
Stability
Landing control
Strength

It can be completed at home, on your local netball court or even on a field, wherever you have a little space to move.

Give it a go:

• 8–12 quality reps of each exercise (per side where applicable)
• Complete 2–3 rounds
• Rest 60–90 seconds between rounds if needed
• Prioritise quality, power and control throughout

No gym.
No fancy equipment.
Just a netball, a little space and a commitment to get better.

Whether you're on holiday, juggling the school holidays or simply can't get to the gym as often, this quick bodyweight workout will help you stay strong and keep moving.

Give it a go:

• 45 seconds work / 15 seconds to transition between exercises
• Complete 2–3 rounds
• Focus on quality movement and control throughout

You don't need fancy equipment.
You don't need an hour.
You just need to keep moving.

Progress isn't about being perfect, it's about finding ways to keep moving when life looks a little different.

A huge congratulations to Rachel, our Mover of the Month for June!

Like many of the incredible women I work with, Rachel is driven, incredibly busy and holds herself to high standards. She consistently shows up, pushes herself in the gym, focuses on great technique and makes movement a priority, even with the demands of running a business and family life.

More recently, she's been working on prioritising her energy and nutrition so she can get the most out of every week, not just in her training, but in life too.

All of those qualities made Rachel a strong contender for Mover of the Month.

But they weren't the reason she won.

What really stood out was how she handled a setback.

Rachel went on holiday and stuck to the movement plan we'd created together, proving that holidays don't have to mean losing all your progress. Shortly after returning home, however, she was hit by a nasty virus that kept her out of the gym for almost two weeks.

Like many of us would, she questioned whether she should push through with some home workouts. Instead, she listened to her body, gave herself permission to recover and reminded herself that two weeks of rest wouldn't undo months of consistent effort.

That mindset is exactly what we're trying to build.

Progress isn't about being perfect. It's about making the right decision for your body, even when it's not the decision you want to make.

Rachel is now back in the gym, feeling just as strong as before her holiday, with her nutrition back on track and ready to tackle the summer holidays head-on.
