The Essex AA cross country relays are being hosted by Orion Harriers and are being held at Chingford Plain, Epping Forest, E4 7QH.

The date will be Saturday 19th September 2026.


Race 1 9:30am U14/16/18 Girls – 3 legs of 3k (1 lap)

Race 2 10:15am U14/16/18 Boys – 3 legs of 3k (1 lap)

Race 3 11:00am All seniors and vets – 3 legs of 6k (2 laps) except Senior Men (4 legs of 6k/2 laps)

Vets teams are V40, V50 and V60.

Age groups for juniors and seniors will be as follows:
U14: School years 7 and 8 (athletes born between 1/9/13 and 31/8/15)
U16: School years 9 and 10 (athletes born between 1/9/11 and 31/8/13)
U18: School years 11 and 12 (athletes born between 1/9/09 and 31/8/11).

Seniors: all athletes born before 1/9/2009.

For veteran runners, age groups will be based on age on the day of competition, 19/09/26.

REMINDER: The track is CLOSED on August 4th for a track maintenance day.
Instead, we'll be at the discovery center (meet at the hill) with sessions at 6pm and 7pm, with some hills and physical prep as well as some hurdles and ladder work! ALL athletes are welcome to these as there will be something to benefit all events.

We'll see you all tonight for our second Mock Competition evening! Come and try some more new events - tonight includes High Jump, Discus and Hammer throw, Pole Vault, Endurance, Sprints and more! Dont forget to wear your club vests!

Our Braintree District Volunteer and Active Braintree Awards are currently open for nominations, and we’d love to receive your nominations for people in the Braintree District who are achieving great things – no matter how big or small. Whatever level they are at and no matter how many people they help or inspire – we want to hear their stories.

From someone launching a walking football club or leading wellbeing walks to a budding young sports star achieving amazing things at any level – we’d love to hear about them!

Last night we hosted the first of our two 'Mock Competition' nights!

Throughout the year we do a handful of weeks where our normal training sessions turn into a mock competition environment, where athletes who haven't competed before can see what their events would look like at home before going to a competition - and for other athletes to try new events!

A reminder to all athletes that this is also happening again tomorrow night, please wear your competition vests!

Entries for the Essex 10000m track championships close this Saturday (25th July). Taking place at a busy Woodford Green open meeting on July 28th, there should be plenty of support throughout the race.

ANNOUNCEMENT

There will be no training at the track on Tuesday August 4th.

This is a track cleaning and maintenance day and the track will be completely closed.

There will instead be a session held at the Discovery Center (meet at the hill). This is open to ALL athletes, an exact plan is being created but there should be some endurance as well as some strength and physical prep work so will benefit every group!
