So Upper Fernsiders - Seems like I forget to press send on the last blast - much like a certain secretary forgot to set his alarm after a 3 day bender….. since then we have had the V run out 8-4 winners against Christchurch and last week secure their place in the semi finals with a 0-0 draw with Bournemouth electric - enough for both sides to make the semis.....
This of course went to a penalty shootout and once again the bold eagle Lalas (that's not a typo he washes the kits) was the hero.
Having saved a penalty in normal time, he went on to save one in the shootout as all the lads who confidently stepped up for the V scored - noticable absentee Gully who Farmer said didn't fancy it....
This week leaves a dead rubber against Boscombe with nothing at stake but the big one comes on the 26th as V take on Christchurch in the semis on the neutral turf of King George.
Get it in the calendars and come down in your red and white...
---- Great to see Smelliot back to scoring with 4 goals against Christchurch
---- Lalas saving yet another penalty to keep the game 0-0 against Electric - your ASC has lost count of his save tally now. Since injuring Chowie against Christchurch he has been fantastic.
---- Seeing Hackett and Beaumont roll back the years lately - who is next on the old boys tour? I've heard rumours of gaffer Farmer dusting off his boots...
See you at the game XOXO
Ferndown continue Scott V hoodoo...
Hello upper Fernsiders, your anonymous SC here with your one and only insight to behind the scenes of your favourite Sunday team...
And after our Sunday favourites once again could not maintain form to win the league whilst it was in their hands, attention has firmly turned towards the league cup and the prospect of a year 1 final for the club...or has it......
Star players missing, a former chairman withdrawing availability at 4am, 1 board member getting injured before the game even kicks off and another travelling 4 hours to not make it along... some would argue that attention is firmly not on the cup at all......
Ferndown won the league in spite of losing the crunch came against the red and whites, and then won the league round of the cup against our heroes who were anything but heroic - 2 goals from self inflicted mistakes (deja vu of the Boscombe game) was the difference in an otherwise even game where both keepers and goalkeepers did their best to inflict concussions and CTE on the opposition backline and midfield....with neither keeper really doing too much all game apart from kick the ball..
Hats of to Lalas with an incredible save at 1-1 - it was great to see the depth of the V squad with Saturday Star man Cavan de Bruyne making another appearance as well as a second appearance for Scott V veteran turned manager Jamie Hackett who did not get booked or score (unlike his second debut....
Chowie warmed up for the 4th time in his post surgery career resulting in his 4th warm up injury - do people never learn....
It didn't stop him having a 60 yard foot race (if you can call it that...) with their young winger who opened up a 2 car length lead by the time he made the byline - luckily Chowie running is akin to the T-Rex stomping around in Jurassic Park which must be what put the kid off.....
Milo and Hux were both at the game though which provided some entertainment for both the subs and spectators....
Hopefully something interesting happens at the next game - time will tell, it is a certain Uncle Gully's birthday on Saturday - let's see if he's sporting a fresh perm.....
XOXO 💋
