Thurlby Tigers have an agreement with the Methodist Church on the High Street to use their Car Park on Saturday mornings. If you are attending a match or session today and are familiar with the area, please consider parking here to reduce congestion at Lawrance Park.

Before most of us arrive at football, someone has already unlocked gates, checked pitches, moved goals, put up nets, carried equipment and set out cones.

And afterwards, someone puts it all away again.

Grassroots football runs on people quietly doing jobs most of us never see. So, as the season gets going: thank you to our coaches, helpers, committee members and volunteers who make the weekend happen. 💛🐯

A couple of games into the season, it’s tempting to measure progress in goals, results and who looks strongest. But at U5–U11, progress often looks much smaller than that.

Using the weaker foot without being asked. Calling for the ball. Trying a skill that doesn’t quite work. Recovering after a mistake. Passing to a teammate. Being brave enough to join in.

Look for the small things. They’re often the big things. 🐯

First weekend of the season: done. 🐯⚽

There will have been wins, losses, goals, saves, muddy knees, forgotten water bottles and probably a few nerves along the way.

But for our younger players, the score is only one tiny part of the story. Did they get involved? Try something new? Recover from a mistake? Encourage a teammate? Enjoy themselves? Want to play again next week?

Those are pretty good results too.
