Yesterday Harbour’s inaugural regatta took to the sea,
And what a fine day it turned out to be!
Behind every race, every cake and cold beer,
Were some brilliant people who made us all cheer.
To the BBQ boys, flipping burgers with flair,
And the cake makers — keeping us fuelled beyond compare.
To the salad dressers, making greens look divine,
And the artists, adding colour and design.
To the first aider, calm, cool and prepared,
The marshalls and race control making sure everyone was cared for.
To the boat movers, shifting gigs here and there,
And our supporters, cheering like Olympic fans everywhere!
To the Harbour Hurricanes, our crew full of might.
And to the safety boat and umpire Steve who officiated the fight.
To Toby Jug Cafe, Boscastle, keeping us fed,
And Tintagel Brewery, keeping spirits well… spread!
To The Cobweb Inn and Firebrand, thank you too,
And Jane, for the lawn — we’re indebted to you!
To the weather gods, who delivered the sun,
And Coastwatch Boscastle, keeping watch as we had fun.
To the Boscastle community, what can we say?
You turned up and helped make a brilliant day.
We’re lucky to live here — and this much is true:
We LOVE where we live, and we love all of you!
And finally, the rowers, the stars of the show,
Who battled the water and gave it a go.
You raced, you laughed, you pulled with your might —
And hopefully still had some feeling by night!
So here’s to our first one — what a debut!
A massive THANK YOU to every one of you.
You made it memorable, you made it a blast…
Now who’s up for Regatta Number Two? 🚣♀️🌊🍰🍺
