C1 Racing Club Donington 3hr done ✅

Our usual driver lineup for the #469 CeX Preptech car was back out again last weekend for their first race of the season. A full grid of 49 cars took to the Donington National layout in the sunshine. Drivers Josh Goldman, Dan Kell and Oliver Barnard hadn't turned any laps at Donington since April but after a good team effort walked away with P5 in qualifying having held a top 3 spot for lots of the session.

P5 was only 0.226 seconds off P2, a close field indeed. We had the pace to hit the front row but catching traffic at the wrong time sadly compromised us.

We discussed our race strategy with Dan starting the 3 hour event. The plan was working well and as we were considering making our first stop sadly we suffered a driveshaft failure whilst leading the race. We would have definitely come out of our stop in the top 3 😭.

Any mechanical gremlin in these 3 hours is impossible to recover from but the team did an amazing job to carry out a driveshaft change within 8 minutes (all the components were a tad hot!) and get the car back out circulating.

Even though we were "out of the race" all of our stints were very solid, always running in top 3 pace......

Definitely a day where the car should have finished on the podium but that is Motorsport! We have never experienced a driveshaft failure before but the outer CV joint bearing cage had decided that it didn't like to stay in one piece 🤣

Rebuild and on to the next one, redemption next time out!

A bit of love for the Rex Citroen C1 #469 ahead of the C1 Racing Club Donington Park 3 hour race this coming weekend💪🏻👍🏻

New front wheel bearings, rear wheel bearings, rear brake kits, front and rear abs sensors, rebuilt ABS pump, new front discs and pads, spark plugs, all filters and fluids🔧💥

Just final setup geometry tweaks to do and it will be ready to hit the track.

49 car grid this weekend so it should be a busy one!

Out on track putting the ReX BMW 130i through its paces. We were running a new compound of semi slick yesterday, the results were really promising and a definite good sideways step👌🏻

The BMW 130i was built in-house by us and the chassis has had quite a few modifications including running an E39 M5 rear subframe, L*D diff (shorter ratio), M5 suspension arms, M5 driveshafts and a custom prop shaft. 😍

A 20 year old normally aspirated straight six that runs rings around plenty of modern machinery 💪🏻

Back on circuit with the CeX supported ReX track days cars yesterday at a hot Cadwell Park🫠

Enthusiastic guests and plenty of laps in the Preptech UK built C1, Twingo RS and BMW 130i👌🏻

Sadly the Twingo didn't last the full day after the thermostat housing split in hot weather.

Back to the workshop for preparation on the C1 ahead of racing at the C1 Racing Club Donington 3hr next weekend 💪🏻

A full setup carried out on a new customer's BMW 340i a few weeks ago. Coilovers fitted before it came to us so a full ride height set, geometry reset and corner weighted ready for their next track day.

Post track day we received amazing feedback from the customer at how well it handles whilst also being useable occasionally on the road.
