This was a tough morning for the Blues and one that proved difficult before a ball had even been kicked.
Our fixture was originally scheduled for an 11:05am kick-off but was brought forward to 9:15am. Unfortunately, the change wasn't communicated to everyone, leaving coaches, players and parents scrambling to get to the ground on time.
As a result, Bolsover kicked off with just five players against a strong Somersall side sitting at the top of the league. Somersall took advantage of the extra numbers early on, finding the net within the opening minutes, and it was another ten minutes before the Blues had both a goalkeeper and a full team on the pitch.
Against the circumstances, what was already going to be a challenging game became even more difficult. However, the boys never let their heads drop. They continued to work hard, support each other and battle right through to the final whistle.
While the players admitted they felt a little deflated after the hectic start and having to begin the game two players short, they showed fantastic resilience and team spirit throughout. The effort, attitude and determination on display were a real credit to the team.
💙 Sometimes football doesn't go your way, but character shines through in moments like these – and the Blues showed plenty of it. 💙
🏆 Player of the Match: Albie 🏆
Albie put in a tremendous performance from start to finish. He battled for every ball, worked tirelessly for the team and never stopped giving 100%. A real powerhouse performance and a thoroughly deserved Player of the Match award.
