Incredible season for the Lions 🦁
End of season report:
What a season it has been for Bolsover Town Lions U10s 🦁
The season started in perfect fashion as the Lions lifted our home Bolsover Town FC tournament trophy. With several new additions joining the squad, a number of pre-season friendlies helped the team settle and build strong foundations ahead of a brand new challenge in the Sheffield & District Junior Sunday League.
Placed in one of the lower divisions, the team’s quality, determination and experience quickly became clear for all to see. Goals were flying in from every angle, clean sheets were coming in thick and fast and the Lions proved unstoppable during the first half of the campaign, earning promotion not just once, but twice, a fantastic reward for all the hard work the players had put in on and off the pitch.
The second half of the season brought tougher opposition and bigger challenges, exactly what the team needed to continue their development. At times the Lions had to dig deep, but their confidence, ability and incredible togetherness always shone through. The result was an outstanding achievement ending the league season unbeaten.
Word of our progress and success had clearly been spread as we had Sheffield United scouts requesting to come and watch the team.
To finish the season, the Lions were entered into the Sheffield League cup competition against teams all playing a division above. Once again the team rose to the challenge, battling through every round, holding their nerve in a dramatic semi-final penalty shootout before eventually getting their hands on the trophy.
A simply incredible season for this group of players, every single one of them working their socks off and playing their part brilliantly throughout the year.
A huge mention must also go to the coaches and families whose togetherness, commitment and fantastic support have been a massive part of the team’s success.
We now look forward to the next chapter as we move up to U11s.
