I've been to see Jack, Woodhouse's very own Wako GB World Champion. He recently won the British Nationals and is off to the Euros in the summer. Amazing success!

I first shared some of Jack's story as he was fundraising to go to the World Championships last year, so it's been brilliant to follow his progress and to meet him today (and have a look at his World Champs trophy!)

WAKO is the 'World Association of Kickboxing Organisations' and Jack competes in all sorts of disciplines, like kickboxing and also demonstrations with various weapons. He showed me some of his skills with a sword, and it seems he's basically achieved every young lad's dream of being an actual Ninja. Impressive!

We've got a brilliant record of producing amazing athletes in Mansfield, and we have so much talent on our doorstep as well as some brilliant, top notch coaching too. I always love being able to share and celebrate some local success. We'll done Jack.

I'm sure you'll all wish him a massive good luck for the Dutch Open in Amsterdam next week!

Introducing Jack, also known as “Jackie Chan”

Jack has been training at the club for nearly 11 years, training 6 days a week, as well as helping teach in weapons and kickboxing.
He has competed at many competitions, he does sword, and double sword.

He went to WAKO world championships in October 2022 and came back a world champion! 🥇 He’s looking forward to the Dutch open in 2 weeks time.

Jack loves being apart of team fiddy1 and eats sleeps and breathes it! 🥋

I’m Dec Stanhope

I have been training at Area 51 for 8 years now, I’m 23, currently the oldest member on the Team. Throughout my time at Area51, I have always aspired to be the best role model I can be to the younger students.

When it comes to competing, I bring a variety of skills to the mats such as advanced tricks, creative hand combos and I also specialise in Chux.

I look forward to hitting more international competitions so I can meet other competitors around the world and get my name out there. I take great pride in representing Area 51 and will do whatever I can to bring the medals back👊🏼💪🏼

My name is Luke but you can call me TCM.

I've been training at 51 for 9 years and I've been doing martial arts for a total of 12 years. I've competed at National, European and World level serveral times through my training career. Competing abroad in countries such as America, Italy, Ireland and Turkey as well as training/coaching in Australia in 2022. I believe my unique selling point as a martial arts athlete is how adaptable and versatile I am. I love all training but my biggest strengths are bo staff, kicks and fast sharp hand combos. 🥋😎

Kaden Lukas - Kaden is 16 years old and has been training at Area 51 since 2015, and is currently a 2nd Dan black belt, working towards his 3rd Dan. He currently trains at Area 51 5 days a week and then competes, and has recently won 2 Gold Medals at the WAKO GB Championships. This is Nate, he is 12 years old and has loads of energy. He has been training at Area 51since he was 4 and currently trains 5 times a week. He joined the competition team in 2019. He competes in the Open hand and weapons categories. He uses a Bo Staff. Nate has won many medals including 2 x Gold at the GB grand slam 2022. He is a WAKO world champion and recently travelled to Italy to represent Great Britain and won gold in the musical weapons category. Nate really enjoys tricking.

Chiana Lukas - Chiana is 14 years old and has been training at Area 51 since 2015, and is currently a 2nd Dan black belt, working towards her 3rd Dan. She currently trains at Area 51 5 days a week, and helps teach on 3 of those days. She has recently won a gold medal and a silver medal at the WAKO GB Championships. She also represented Great Britain in the WAKO World Championships in 2022. She was also the regional winner for the StreetGames inspiration Award for 'Engaging women and girls' in 2022. In her spare time she also volunteers her time at a local farm park, helping with the pony rides and looking after the ponies.

Introducing Regan, or Reg as most people know him.

He's almost 15 and been training for the last 11 years at the club. He helps to teach some of the youngest students on Monday nights. He has competed for the club and won many medals, including a Gb national title in his open hand and is the current world title holder for WAKO GB in the older cadet musical weapons forms category.
