Bardykes 3-1 Innercity

Sunday saw us took on Inncercity at bothwellhaugh, we started the game very well keep ahold of the ball creating so great chances but couldn't find the net in the first 10 minutes. But luckily after 13 and 15 minutes Callan scored 2 quick goals on the back of 2 classic assists by guv. The 2 goals definitely encouraged innercity to come at us more and they found themselves in behind a few times but our defence was solid enough to deal with the threats in the air and on the ground. Guv dropping in deep at times allowed Callan and Adam to run in behind but couldn't find that third goal! On the 45th minute Innercity eventually got in behind us but Ben stood tall and made a great 1 on 1 save to take us to half time.

2nd half both teams started well credit to both defences keeping each other at bay, Innercity were then reduced to 10 men after a tackle to Adam left him injured resulting in him coming off. Again though innercity didn't stop and definitely causes us more bother but again just couldn't score. We changed formation and after 76 minutes another pin point cross from the guv landed at Michael who tapped the ball home 3-0. Shortly after innercitys left winger cut inside with a ferocious shot heading for top bins but again Ben pulled off an incredible save to keep it at 3-0. Innercity then made it 3-1 with a quick free kick and eventually they found the net. We were then reduced to 10 men when Jim say red for mistaking identity but with only a few minutes to go we held on and got our third win on the bounce.

Our full focus now is on Scottish cup weekend against Rossvale who sit top of the championship.

Glasgow Saints 2-5 Bardykes Rovers

Today saw us away to Glasgow Saints for a dinner time kick off of 4pm up at Glasgow Green. We didn't know much about the opposition other than there recent results in the league so we knew that we had to start the game strong. So strong we started with captain Aidan McGovern beating the defence on the turn and firing in to the bottom corner of the net minutes in to the game to set the tone for the match. Minutes later again Bardykes found the net this time through Jonathan McPhee being first to react to the rebound after Callan’s shot hit the post. With it being 2-0 so early in the game we switched off and with some costly mistakes Glasgow Saints had scored 2 goals of their own to make it 2-2 at half time. With the gaffer furious and threatening to ring the changes an instant impact was needed and an instant impact was delivered. 2 very quick fire goals from Adam Hill, the first cutting in from the right and firing in to the bottom corner of the net and the second after it was squared along the box from Aidan McGovern. 4-2 and the gaffer did ring the changes which gave Bardykes even more momentum and with opportunities created as the game went on Jonathan McPhee grabbed his second goal to round the scoring off to 5-2 to Bardykes. Last weeks match winner Jamie Mitchell survived a horror tackle from Glasgow's goalkeeper that resulted in a straight red card, Jamie said after the match that he was scared for his life after the tackle but thankfully he was ok.

Bardykes 4-3 Glasgow Irish

After last weeks poor performance the boys were desperate to bounce back. Today we started strong lots of talking and getting the ball into attacking areas early and after 7 minutes right back Danny scored with a 30 yard screamer into the top corner to make it 1-0. After lots of possession and decent chances we just couldn't find the net and soon after Irish equaliser with a tap in. Just before half time Irish made it 2-1....... HT......... second half we started strong again creating more chances just unable to find the net but fortunately with 20 to go we found it with an unbelievable strike from a tight angle from McPhee 2-2 ..... few minutes after kick off Irish had us pinned but not causing any concerning threat from miscommunication at the back we took a goal kick too quick and Irish took advantage and made it 3-2. After a chance of formation with 5 minutes too go we worked the ball well through the midfield and a long pass down to Adam he beat the goalkeeper to the ball to slot the ball home from the edge of the box 3-3 ... with a minute to go and relentless pressure the boys scored to make it 4-3 super sup nifty jambo pops up at the back post to head home.

Made it hard for ourselves but glad to get the first win of the season

NEW SIGNING 🎈

The club are delighted to announce we have signed midfielder Stephen 'Stocky' Taylor!

Stocky first joined the team back in 2021 and enjoyed years of playing before taking on the managers role in 2023. Stocky now returns in 2026 for the upcoming season, a vocal point throughout the dressing rooms, a player that can pick a pass out of anywhere and a bullet of a strike the boys are happy to welcome Stocky back!
