Welcome to our new followers! 👋 If you’ve only recently discovered us, you might not be 100% familiar with what we do.

So here’s how most Dirt Dashes work:

On Saturday morning everyone gathers at the start. Some people have breakfast, others just rock up & roll out. The joint start means you’re likely to meet plenty of other riders along the route during the day.

Our routes aren’t the easiest, but we make sure you’re rewarded – with great views, interesting trails and good places to stop. Markus designs routes for a living, so you get the same high standard as with all Bikepacking Scotland routes. And our Dirt Dash routes are different every year.

In the afternoon, pitch your tent & chill. Meet more new people, eat great food and enjoy a social evening. And while people enjoy a drink or two, by 10pm you can enjoy the silence of our remote campsites. 🏕️

Day 2 starts with a tasty breakfast and finishes back where you started. We also build shortcuts into our second-day routes, just in case the legs aren’t quite feeling it.

There are no finisher medals – but we’ll send you loads of great images after the event to remember your weekend by. 📸

Tempted? Drop us a message if you have any questions.

In 4 weeks our 2026 Dirt Dash season will be over. It’s gone incredibly quickly - from spring sunshine in the Cateran Dirt Dash to one last weekend together in Dunoon.

Three events, three completely different landscapes, and lots of familiar and new faces along the way.

The Dunoon Dirt Dash is on 26/27 September. Our route this year is 130km over two days, with 1,800m of climbing through the beautiful Cowal Peninsula. As always, it’s not a race - just a great weekend of riding, camping, good food and good company.

And every good bike adventure starts with a ferry.

There’s still time to be part of the last one.

Sponsors are vital for the Dirt Dashes. They help us keep the events at the size they are, but they also need to be a good fit. We would never recommend a product we don’t believe in or use ourselves.

That’s why it’s great to have komoot supporting the Dirt Dashes. We use the app almost every day — for our own adventures, but also professionally when planning routes for destinations, books and events.

Here are 6 komoot features we particularly like:

🗺️ Different map layers & heatmaps
Switch between different map styles, including official topographic maps, and use personal and global heatmaps to get a better idea of where people actually ride.

⛰️ 3D maps
Really useful for understanding the terrain before heading out — particularly in mountainous areas.

📍 Individual waypoints
We use these for cafés, shops, viewpoints, water stops and to give starts and finishes meaningful names.

👀 See what’s underneath the blue line
Probably our favourite feature for professional route planning. Press M on desktop, or the eye icon on mobile, to hide the route and properly inspect the trail underneath.

📵 Offline maps & GPX downloads
Download your route before heading somewhere with limited signal, or export the GPX to use on your GPS device.

🔎 Discover
A great starting point somewhere new. Find community-tested routes, local highlights and expert collections, then filter them by activity, distance, duration and elevation.

And you can find all of this year’s Dirt Dash routes on our own komoot profile too. We change them every year, so there’s always something new to ride.

Dirt Dash riders also get a 90-day free trial of komoot Premium if they haven’t had a Premium trial before - come & join us on 26/27 Sep. (ad)

This will be the 7th Dunoon Dirt Dash – our longest-running event.

Each year we ride a different route, but our campsite has been the same since the very beginning in 2019. Back then it was run by Jai & Vonna, before they left for the Isle of Lewis in 2024. Darius & Hannah took over and have since turned Carrick Farm into the beautiful Hannah Mellet at Carrick Farm Cafe.

Over the years, hundreds of people have ridden the Dunoon Dirt Dash – and here are just a few faces we remember.

In 2019, Jenny Tough joined us for our very first event.

In 2021, Jason Miles rode with us and later wrote about the experience for Singletrack.

2022 gave us two firsts: Teddy became our youngest finisher, while Craig was the first to tackle the route on a cargo bike.

In 2023, Mark joined us – and would later become one of the first Edinburgh Dawn Patrol riders. We welcomed inspiring women like Julia from the Lakes Gravel Gang, and Jon became our first visitor from the US.

And in 2024, Teddy returned, while Hannah & Darius took over our camp at Carrick Castle.

There are many more people and stories we could add – which is what makes seven editions feel pretty special.

We’re back in Dunoon on 26/27 September.

Happy faces at the Lezyne Dunoon Dirt Dash last year. Will you be smiling with us this year?

The Dirt Dashes are social, friendly bikepacking events – great for your first bikepacking adventure, and equally fun if you’ve joined us many times before.

Our 2026 route is now finalised: 130km over two days, with 1,800m of climbing and plenty of beautiful riding around Dunoon.

We’ve only got 40 places left, so grab yours before they’re gone.

The Dirt Dashes are what you make of them.

We provide a professionally planned route, great campsites, tasty local food, and support if things don’t quite go to plan. And if you need help, you’ll always speak to a friendly human - never a chatbot.

But what makes a Dirt Dash truly special is you.

The chats on the climbs. The laughs around camp. The encouragement when someone’s having a tough moment. The stories shared over dinner. That’s the community we’ve always hoped to create.

A Dirt Dash isn’t about racing. It’s about spending a weekend exploring beautiful places by bike with a brilliant bunch of people.

Thanks to everyone who’s been part of that. ❤️
