🌸👏 WHAT THE FLOWERS MAN OF THE MATCH! 👏🌸

Last game’s What The Flowers Man of the Match goes to… Matt Howard! 💪🏻🔥🏆

Matt put in an outstanding shift, contributing both up top and in the middle of the park. He kept things simple, made himself available, linked play brilliantly and was always looking to drive the team forward. ⚽️💨

And it wasn’t just going forward where Matt made his mark. He put in the hard yards defensively too, working tirelessly and making life difficult for Blackpool United throughout the game. 👏🔥

There were some fantastic performances across the pitch, with Lingard also picking up the Ballers League Man of the Match award. But Matt’s all-round contribution certainly stood out, making this a thoroughly deserved award. 🙌🏻

🖤💗 UNITY FC — MATCHDAY REFLECTION 💗🖤

⚽ Blackpool United 1–2 Unity FC
🏆 Three points on the board!

What a battle. What a result. What a shift from the lads. 👊🔥

A tough fixture against a competitive Blackpool United side, but the strength and size of the squad available to us today proved valuable as we dug deep and got the job done.

The opening 20 minutes was very much a feeling-out process, with neither side really able to take control. There were a few half-chances and nearly moments at both ends, but gradually we found our rhythm, started moving the ball better and began to put the pressure on.

And that pressure paid off.

💥 1–0 UNITY!

Gav opened the scoring from a corner, with the delivery proving too difficult for the Blackpool keeper to read as it found its way into the back of the net.

We continued to grow into the game and got our reward again.

💥 2–0 UNITY!

Our pressing forced a mistake, and Jackson was quickest to react. He picked up the loose ball, did the hard work himself and showed great composure to finish beautifully with a cheeky dink over the keeper. 👏🔥

At 2–0, we continued to knock the ball around nicely and looked dangerous, but Blackpool showed exactly why they are such a competitive side.

They found themselves through one-on-one, but Lingard came up massive, producing a fantastic save to keep us two goals ahead. 🧤💪

Blackpool pulled one back late on from a corner, the ball taking a nick off one of our players and finding its way into the net.

From there, it was about staying disciplined, sticking to the game plan and seeing the job through.

We continued to move the ball well, created a few more opportunities to put the game beyond doubt, but ultimately the final whistle brought the result we had worked so hard for.

He wasn’t afraid to put in the hard yards either, working tirelessly defensively, tracking back and doing everything he could to help the team. 👏

A thoroughly deserved award, Tom — congratulations! 🏆🙌🏻

And it’s safe to say… that midfield position suits you! 😉💪🏻

🖤💗 UNITY FC — MATCHDAY REFLECTION 💗🖤

Atletico Warton 3–4 Unity FC

What a battle. What a result. What a shift from the lads. 👊

A tough fixture on a grass surface we’re not accustomed to, with a paper-thin squad available, but once again the Unity boys showed exactly what this club is about — character, togetherness and fighting until the final whistle.

Atletico came flying out of the blocks and took the lead almost immediately. Rather than panic, we settled into the game, found our rhythm and fought our way back into it.

We turned the game around to lead 2–1, only to concede from a lapse of concentration at a corner just before half time, sending us into the break level at 2–2.

Half time was about regrouping, getting some much-needed energy back into the legs and reminding ourselves of what we were capable of.

And in the second half, we took the game to them.

Atletico continued to pose a real threat going forward, but our defensive organisation stood firm. The midfield controlled the tempo, the back line dug in when it mattered, and our pace on the counter caused them problems throughout.

There were some huge moments late on, including a fantastic save from our keeper that helped keep us in front.

And then came the final whistle.

Atletico Warton 3–4 Unity FC. 🔥

Every single player left everything out there.

🛡️ The defence stood solid.
⚙️ The midfield ran the show and kept us organised.
⚡ The pace on the break proved too much to handle.
🎯 And up top, Jackson and Liam bagged two goals each! 👏👏

A proper team performance and another reminder of what can happen when everyone pulls in the same direction.
